What do people go on fan forums for? Is it, perhaps, to discuss politics? No, no, that's for politics forums.

Is it perhaps to discuss the latest happenings in their life? No... one could do that in a blog.

Well then, it's obviously for debating the latest global and local issues! No, no, wait, that's what debate forums are for.

What, then, do people go on fan forums for? First off... to discuss the game. But one can't discuss a game or even a game series for too long before they get entirely bored of it.

So what's the other reason? To mess around. To have fun. To just post a topic about some silly, pointless thing, and get a silly reply. To talk with other people, and interact... but not have some huge debate.

Off-topic is basically the life and blood of this forum. While many people come here just to roleplay, the ones that don't find the Off-Topic area to be a very fun place to occupy their time.

What would digibutter be without it? Well... it'd be a boring, dull forum. One has to know that the more serious you get, the more boring and depressing you get.

We removed the "Dump" because it got way out of hand with pervertedness and flame... but Off-Topic is great. All we need to do is make sure it's moderated well, just like every other category, and it won't ever get out of hand.

That's really all I have to say on the matter.

Agreed. It's there for fun, and if you don't like it, don't go there. It could maybe use a bit more moderation, but it's not THAT bad...

it's not bad at all. Some people here have terribly low levels of tolerance... and that's something that simply will not WORK when they finally grow up to be big boys and girls, and go out into the world to find jobs.

You can falsely accuse me of attempting to destroy the site (Without giving a good reasoning as to why) as much as you want, while not coming up with a good counter-arguement to the well thought-out ones that would solve the site's problems while barely removing anything that could be discussed in OT I posed at the same time. : D

You're post wasn't very clear. But how would I destroy anything by suggesting the separation of OT (By cutting it up and dividing it out, if that is what you mean)?

Here's what my suggestion is, as well as others':

OT and General Discussion fuse to make Casual Discussion.
A Serious Stuff forum is made (Afterall, every general site/fan site has one. Most, anyway.)
Star Carnival is turned into a forum games forum.
A War Room forum for item wars is made.
Stickied topics for funny images and/or internet videos are made in Casual Discussion.
The same thing for OT is done for RPOT.
Social groups/Clubs forum is made for things like the IUoS.
Clans are made to help keep competition and item wars alive, and each clan would have "forum games" or casual discussion in their own forums, hidden to others.

With that, everything about OT is spread out across the site, instead of one big forum leeching away all of the activity. We wouldn't have just OT; we'd have digibutter.

Ugh, don't you realize what you're trying to do here? You're trying to turn digibutter into one of those failed, "one category for everything" sites.

Don't you realize the POWER of a general category? If there were three categories for general discussion... serious, general, and mild... people would get confused, post in the wrong ones... but most people would just leave the site altogether, to avoid messing around with all that nonsense.

HEY RAWRSKEY HAVE YOU EVEN READ MY TOPIC?
I never said I wanted OT to be deleted, I said FUSE OT AND GD AND HAVE A SERIOUS DISCUSSION FORUM

Quote:

Why do you think Francis added Brawl and MKW discussion? To have more games for us to discuss. I'd say Brawl is like the third most popular forum around here. Yes SPM is old, but there are other games.

That'd be spam, which is what Crump wants to prevent. Which is the reason why OT is the most active forum on this site. Yes we can talk and have fun, but thats why we have the chat. If you wanna have fun and mess around and post something silly, use the chat. The OT is not meant for that. Look at all the silly stuff people posted, a lot of them got locked. Like that random poll you posted that got locked.

Quote:
but not have some huge debate.

And this is coming from the person who posted a very serious topic in GD? Is it wrong to have some serious debate/discussion in digibutter once in a while? Debating is interesting and very serious, which a lot of members seem to enjoy doing. I mean, just look through GD. A lot of topics are subjects that can be considered Debate, which personally is better than some stuff people post in OT.

Quote:

Again, chat, media, GD, Brawl, other forums. And as Crump said many times before, OT is the most active forum on this board because people post nonsense in it, again. What is OT for? Do you people occupy your time by spamming? Do that over chat. If you really want to have fun, have single topic of war, videos, and other stuff people suggested before. Hell, even clans should have their own forum.

For you it'd be boring, and for a lot of others as well. But the ones who won't leave digi for no OT, THOSE are the good members.
Being serious is depressing? Look at Crump, look at Francis, look at Goomba, look at me, look at other serious members here, ARE WE DEPRESSED? DO YOU THINK SERIOUS PEOPLE ARE WRONG?
And again, digi wont' be boring without OT IF WE HAVE THE FOLLOWING
-A stickied topic of a lot of stuff like videos, clans, wars, etc.
-If we just separate OT into Light and Serious, again, I don't want OT to be gone completely, I said fuse OT AND GD and have a debate forum

uhh...yes thats why Dump was removed. Now look at OT. Now look at the reasons of dump deleted you posted. Pervertness? Still in OT (And last time I checked, you were part of some pervertness in OT) and flame? Yup, I see flame along with drama and spam. Is it being Moderated? YES IT IS. It's just difficult to moderated it because its the most active forum on the site, therefore making it hard to check every single topic.
It is out of hand sometimes. A lot of locked topics are from OT I checked.

We'd have only two general categories. One serious, and one not-so-serious. And most people (Except for spammers) wouldn't get confused and leave. And sites like that don't automatically fail. Take Zelda Universe, for instance- a huge fan site, and it doesn't have an OT board, but rather, something similar to what SSG and I are suggesting- a lighter, general discussion board, and a serious discussion board (Both very successful, and active.)
