OoT. TP was good, but it had quite a few flaws. Hunting down those shadow bugs was really, REALLY tedious.

Except worse. Do both games run in the same timeline? Just a bit of time difference between them, right? (Not so familliar on the exact times of each game)

Sorta...TP was more of a Majora's Mask wannabe in my opinion.

But yeah OOT>TP

TP was a horrible flop that only deserved one review it got. Jeff Gerstmann's, which gave it an 8.

Ocarina.. I have thought this over many times while playing TP. It just does not compare.
Ocarina gave me a sense of adventure and exploration, Twilight was more like walk from point a to b and do this to unlock that without any outside exploration.

Err, good luck understanding what I mean.

TP was superior in many aspects, including the overall challenge, the dungeon design, music, character development, plot, and setting. Ocarina of Time was extremely weak on the plot and character development, and Twilight Princess did not get a fair chance from the fanbase because of nostalgia, as is the case with Super Mario Galaxy. The revolutionary qualities of a game don't quite determine which game is superior, as those qualities were revolutionary because they were new when they were introduced, and they can be improved on (Which is what Twilight Princess did); therefore, if one who had never touched or heard of a Zelda game in his life was presented a choice between Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, that person would pick Twilight Princess. Twilight Princess is of an overall better quality. Overhyped a bit, yes, but still the better game.

Quite a few people are going to be pissed after reading that paragraph. I'll prepare myself... *Calls forth Magnus von Grapple*

I tell ya what, Crump, I wasn't offended by that a bit.

I'm currently torn between the two: I like the fact that you can mess around quite a bit in OoT and still have a blast (the biggest fish I ever caught was 21 poinds (w/ standard lure)), but I really liked TP's Character development, as Crump pointed out.

I guess the one point I'd like to bring up about the Zelda Series is that it's constantly tried to reinvent itself (usually). Now before you go off on me, think about it for a second.

The Original Legend of Zelda, aside from plunging us into the Universe for the first time, was the first game Nintendo made that was Battery-Backed (i.e., you could turn it off and your progress would be saved), and had two quests.

Zelda II gave us the Magic Meter, and Shadow (or Dark, whichever you want to call him) Link.

Zelda: LttP introduced the Light and Dark worlds and Link's different armor styles, plus the ability to warp to different destinations (might be in Zelda II, but I wouldn't know as I haven't played it). It also (unless I'm mistaken) gave us our first look at Zelda in-game for the first time, plus the real Master Sword and its upgrades.

Link's Awakening finally brought the series to the handheld consoles. It also showed us the Trading Sequences for the first time.

Zelda: OoT, aside from bringing Link into the third dimension, had us traveling across time to fight Ganon and his minions, as well as locking on to targets, the three arrow types, and riding on horseback.

Majora's Mask gave us our first glimpse of Link in different forms, and just how important friends can be.

Oracle of Seasons/Ages linked two lands via codes, where we were controlling nature in Holodrum and Subrosia, and chasing evil across time in Labrynna. We also got rings, run-ins from a clumsy witch, and proof that gardening wasn't worthless after all!

Wind Waker showed us cannons, naval battles, stealing stuff from your enemies, and dredging for treasure. Also, we got our first look at the King of Hyrule for the first time, plus the re-introduction of the Second Quest.

Four Swords showed us Link in Multiplayer form, and an introduction to the Wind Sorcerer, Vaati.

Minish Cap showed us that it's not your size that counts - it's how you fight at said size.

Phantom Hourglass showed that we didn't have to be in direct control of Link to help him fight.

Lastly, TP showed us Link the Beastmaster and Wolf Link, the Twilight Realm, Midna, Link if he were Spider-Man, and who could have made for Link's better half. If you've played the game to the end, you'll know what I mean. Wink

So tell me now - how can you choose between two games when they're all unique in their own ways?

I shall abstain from voting, as such.

Don't make me choose.

Both had their pros as well as cons. Both were awesome. Both had lots of stuff to do. Both had an epic-looking Ganon.

The list goes on and I don't feel like jotting down every last detail, but one cannot chose Ocarina of Time over Twilight Princess or vise-versa. They are both classics.
