1) There may or may not be a "creating deity". The Big Bang may have been caused by a deity, but, it could just as easily have caused itself.
To back up the "scientific" theory:
Fold up a paper as much as you can, until you feel like you just cannot do it anymore. Let go of the paper. What happens? It "unfolds" itself. Now, one could say that their deity is the one who folded the paper, but, the "Big Compression" theory contradicts this. How? Well, the universe "unfolded" because of pressure. The pressure is so strong that the universe "springs" out, like an elastic. When you pull an elastic and let go, it springs back toward your hand, right? Now, imagine this "springing" motion forces a refolding. With these two theories in place, it can be assumed that the universe will "create" and "destroy" itself over and over again, without any help.
Of course, that's only an explanation of the theory, it in no way disproves the existence of supernatural beings.
2) Aliens? I never think of them, and, actually, I prefer not to... But, I do believe that there is other life. It may be as primitive as the archaea.
3) Who says that where we are now is Heaven? From my point of view, our existence on Earth is closer to an actual Hell. Why? Well, although Heaven isn't perfect, neither is Hell... And, look at Earth. It isn't all too happy.
|
1 & 2) Ok, I see what you mean, but something had to have created what unfolded in the first place.
3) I don't think you read that one carefully. No matter how much good you ask for, you can't get any more of it. That's what I'm trying to say. The good and the bad disappears, which looks like more bad is coming and more good is coming, but really what is happening is that they're leaving, not coming. |

Yes, I read it carefully, but, I've always viewed Earth as more of a Hell than a Heaven. Once again, it's only my point of view, most likely stemmed from my generally pessimistic outlook on life. If religious views are true, then perhaps all of those living on Earth are in fact in Hell, left to wonder the meaning of their existence, and will we re-created until their sins are washed away completely, to only be allowed into a literal "Heaven" once said sins are gone?
Then again, Earth could be a Heaven. This is a similar view: the closest you will get to a religious afterlife is Earth. This could be the best it can get. Of course, this makes the idea of "Heaven" seem rather depressing. |

@Abstract: Ok. I like those ideas.
@Crystal: That's severe flaming. But anyway, as I've said before (not in this topic, but in others—You probably didn't see them—That I didn't used to believe in "it" until this thinking a few years ago) |

1. Let's hear your explanation then. 2. Do you think there was a reason that it just imploded? In fact, our current universe's galaxies are still spreading out right now. 3. I also believe that aliens and alternate universes exist. Perhaps heaven itself makes up or is in an alternate universe, hmm? And any aliens are much like regular animals on our planet, except designed to survive in their own planet's atmosphere. Nothing super-intelligent or anything stereotypical. And are you insisting that all of the aforementioned universes are in the same spot at different times? If that were true, I think you'd actually be saying that it's the same universe, but it recycles itself. 4. How true. 5. Mmm. There's a difference between having a bad attitude to being a bloodthirsty killer. |

I do want to say that as weak as gravity is, everything affects everything else gravity-wise. this means that once everything expands, the force of the velocity could be less than the net force of the gravity. All the bodies could pull back together, thus causing a big crunch.
The other possibility is that everything just keeps expanding, and there is too much of a gap for the force of gravity to have a strong enough effect to pull any celestial bodies together.
Mostly a science note. |

1) there is another way that the Big Bang could have started (I dunno if anyone posted this). If all matter in the universe was condensed into a single atom, the atom would be so unstable, it'd literally explode the second it were formed. There for, it is not necessary for a supernatural deity/group of deities to exist.
2) Whoever said aliens don't exist? We can't be the only thing out there. I mean what, several billion planets, the odds of life being on at least one other planet is quite high.
3) As Tyler said earlier, whoever said souls exist? Whoever actually gave living proof of heaven? The answer? No one. I believe it's just a load of stuff just used to comfort dying people. |

But what created that atom? The universe couldn't have just been there for all eternity.
I never said they don't
No one. I just think that there HAS to be more to life than just a brain. |

Um...you do realize, what if everything that came to be was a pure accident, just by nothing moving for a split second. It's hard to explain, but yeah. |

No one. I just think that there HAS to be more to life than just a brain. | Just so you know, there IS much more to life than just a brain. We have several systems, and the brain is just a command central that relies on chemical balance and neuro-substances. A soul would be rather pointless in organisms such as the ones we have. |

How could the Big Bang have happened if there wasn't some supernatural being to create the explosion? I personally think that either God now just sits back, watching what it's creation becomes, OR that something happened to it and it no longer exists as a supernatural force | Well then what made god?
Pokémoneinstein wrote: | 2) Aliens (life forms outer space, not immigrants) are also real. The Universe is infinite. Hell, a roach on another planet counts as an alien. :U
Pokémoneinstein wrote: | 3) Heaven is real. Our souls can't just go into nothingness once we die. And Heaven can't be perfect. Our current lives ARE heaven. No matter how much you hate your life, it IS heaven. There is no way you can have perfection. If Heaven had nothing bad, we wouldn't know good things, therefore, we would always wish for something better. Since this is happening, I think that when you die and go to Heaven, you are reborn, just the way you were, and you live your life EXACTLY the way it was, but you don't remember the last time over and over and over again. Who's to say this isn't your ninth time on Earth? Sixteenth? | Actually we pass our enery on to another. Ever heard of the Planting w/ Fish method? |
