It's a pretty fun game. This is basically what you get when you mix an Adventure/Hack n' Slash with something like Pikmin. The game works similar to Fable and Pikmin, you have your basic A attack, with the occasional critical strike, and can sling a spell with the X button, the spell is changable with the D-pad.
The game begins when a group of "Minions" resurrect you from the tomb of the "Overlord's Tower". The previous dark overlord was slain by a group of heroes, who pretty much destroyed the tower, and they revive you to bring about a new reign of evil.
The gameplay isn't so much about you, it's about the Minions. As you play, you'll get 4 types of Minions to command. The Browns are the combat hardy ones, have the most health, and can equip everything they find. Reds are fragile, they die quick, but can sling fireballs that light enemies on fire at a distance. Greens are stealthy. If you set them at a command marker, they will cloak and wait in ambush for an enemy. They always try to overwhelm the enemy by jumping on their backs to attack. Blues are very weak, die the easiest, but can swim. The thing that makes Blues a must-have in your horde is the fact that they can resurrect fallen Minions, which saves you a trip to the spawn pits, and valuable Minion gear.
Busting open crates and pots occasionally drops random peices of equipment that your Minions will pick up(if it's better than what they already have. The ways you control the minions are almost the same as you control Pikmin, you can 'sweep' them by using the Right-thumbstick, tell them to charge one-by-one by pressing RT, summon them back to you by holding B, and place a command marker with Y. Command markers allow you to command Minions easily(obviously), you place one, assign the minions you want to it, and lock on to the marker and use the RS to move the marker, which makes it easy to move a small group to flank an enemy, or to keep certain Minions from following you through a hazardous area. You will occasionally find artifacts that increase your health, mana, or maximum horde size, add a spell, or just giant sacks of gold. This works exactly the same way as it does in Pikmin, send however many minions as you need to lift it, and one or two more to speed it up.
Throughout the game, you can gain corruption, or try to keep it at bay. Corrupting yourself with power will increase your power(duh), but will make peasants hate you, not want to help you(means you'll get less hints at what to do next), and may even cause complications in the future. For the goodies out there(currently me), you can be...merciful. The game unfortunately seems to fall into the "You're not quite the bad guy, because you kill other bad guys, making you a good bad guy" idea, since most of your time is spent tracking down and killing the 7 Corrupted Heroes, the first of which is a very fat halfling, shown in the video below.
You will also get a Forge in the game, which you can use to make armor and weapons. How do you make weapons? Well, you choose an amount of Brown, Red, Green, and Blue minions, and command them to jump into the smelter. The amount of each type will add various stats such as Attack boosts, Fire damage, Health/Regeneration bonuses, and Knockback, plus it's amusing to watch 200 of your servants willingly jump into a giant pot of melted iron at once.
All in all, this game is pretty good in terms of gameplay, the voice acting, however, can be very annoying...especially with all the pumpkin jokes. I'd say it's worth a rent, maybe a buy if you really like it.
