And I'm not just talking about E-harmony here.
I'm talking about meeting someone over the internet, chatting on IMs and playing online games, and having a sort of connection. I know, I know, the tubes are hard and made of wires and lots of plastic; but love is love, baby.
I know, for being the guy that doesn't believe in mind-reading, it's hard to think that I'd believe in being able to love someone for their personality, rather than their smokin' hawt bod.
What do you guys think?
---------
The way I see it, there are probably 3 popular opinions.
1. IT'S THE BEST THING EVER, AND I'M DOING IT.
2. I don't do it, but it's cool with me. WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR BOAT.
3. IT'S STUPID, AND PEOPLE WHO DO IT ARE STUPID.
Please, don't limit yourselves to these options. |

I believe that it can happen I mean true love is meant to be blind. It would apply more to me in strengthening a relationship with someone and then it becoming romance. |

YOU CAN'T FALL IN LOVE ON THE INTERNET And dating someone online is childish. Most likely you will never meet them IRL. You are just wasting your time... |

Lol I'm currently looking/plug
I had something work out for awhile actually, A girl that lived only an hour away, that relationship really was something for awhile ...oh well I don't want to get too deep into that. I'm for it, but its kinda hard to go equal parts, and trust someone you've never met face to face. Can make the initial meeting awkward.
I'm for it, because I know it can work.
Edit: we met up and it became something more than an online relationship at that point it became more of "we met online" |

I refuse to date anyone online. It can work out, though. It just usually doesn't. |

I hold the opinion of #2 - I've never tried it, nor am I that interested in it, but that doesn't prevent it from being a good way to form relationships. This is a cyber age; life is slowly shifting toward the vast playground of the internet. |

It CAN work, if it doesn't turn into a giant flaming love dodecahedron of doom and chaos. .-.
The problem is, I think half the people involved take internet relationships too seriously, and the other half don't take them seriously enough. But if you can find a happy medium, then things usually turn out for the best.
...Hopefully. .-. |

I'm not going to lie here...
If you're playing an online game, and you meet someone that you always play with and talk to in game/out of game/voice chat/whatever, sure, you'll develop a strong relationship with them. I wouldn't ever say it's LOVE, but I think of them as an internet family.
This applies to websites as well. Like, I consider digibutter to be a huge part of my internet family. No one hates me, and I don't hate anyone. It doesn't mean I'd ever be in love with any of them.
Although, a lot of the people I've met through the internet... I'd like to meet them in real life, simply because we're already friends by then. Once we met in real life, sure, maybe a love relationship can blossom, but it wouldn't happen until we actually met.
I'm gonna end this rant now... Cuz I'm tired of typing this much. D: |

Well, it's a delicated thing. Internet relationship is possible, but very rare. If people actually only e-dated when they were VERY sure about their love, it wouldn't be as troublesome as it is, but the problem is that there's way too many people that start e-dating upon immaturity, sentimantal confusion, and even attn whoring.
Uncarefully e-dating can crush lives and even forums. I have a solid example of this former one. *coughcoughvnblabcoughcough* |

It probably can exist.
I haven't seen a single solid example of a good stable one, but it has to exist.
I mean, I don't care about looks. I can fall in love with personality only.... I just haven't seen it done in MY experiance. |

I find it stupid for romance to exist on the internet...why? 'Cause people are able to muster up enough courage to actually ask someone out, while the online daters talk, not face-to-face, and you get the idea.
And besides, who IS so smart as to leak information about them on the internet? |

[image] It's impossible for me to get a normal date, so I wouldn't know. But I would say it is possible if you really like someone.
Getting turned down is tough, trust me. |
