I'm all for one for the personality aspect of a person, though I must admit I'd like to have an attractive date as much as the next guy, but, truthfully, it's all fun and games until you find out that your sexy, funny, and talkative e-girlfriend is a man in his 50's that doesn't shave his back and looks at child porn. |

It's really funny how people think this is 90% of the internet.
In all actuality, it'd be more likely that your funny, talkative girlfriend turns out to be an 8 year old boy. |

I was just making the generic thought comment about it. You know what I mean. |

It's usually whoremonal people. I say let them date and realize their mistakes and the fact they'll never meet. Dating should at LEAST start in real life, and should be expressed with words and feelings instead of pixels and text. |

I believe something good CAN come of internet dating, but usually it doesn't.
If you're a teenager, you're just wasting your time on a stupid hormonal "relationship" where you're never going to meet the person.
If you're an adult, maybe. |

I REALLY don't see myself as being that hormonal. I don't really know, though, I guess. |

Internet love is confusing often times.
I think it's okay if you really love someone over the internet, and meet up later in life and get married and stuff, but you technically CAN'T date anyone. I think a date is just a really good friend who you do stuff with all the time. That's impossible over the internet. |

Internet dating is like the pen pal you're really close too, plus more. It's instant communication through a different medium than speech. You can still "see" each other with webcams and the like. Play games against each other. It's all about communication, and it always has been about communication.
It's words, spoken and written. It's feelings shown through those words and different gestures. Some may even think it's better, since so many people only get into relationships because of physical reasons like outer attraction and sex.
Is it not true that adolescent romances fail a lot in general? Can you picture yourself marrying that cute kid in your homeroom? The same rules seem to apply to the internet, which is only another frontier of communication and connection to the world. |

Francine, the reason I believe most people get married(and therefore, most of the marriages fail) is because of looks/sex/"having something to do for a while". Obviously, the marraige will fail if it's just for one of those terrible reasons.
Throw in the fact that America is one of the only countries that allows people to get married with almost no reason is the reason I think it has the highest divorce rate.
Merf...my mind is in a mixed up state atm, sorry if I didn't make too much sense. |

Wrong. The reason people get married is for tax benefits.
No, seriously. Money IS an issue :/ |

Perhaps I should have included "might have missed a few things" as well. |

I'm not trying to insult you or anything. I was just pointing out that marriage has monetary benefits. |
