A capitalist system has one flaw: the elderly. Wh will take care of them? A combination of both, using the capitalist idea, but the communist sharing policies. And for that to happen, the world would have to unite under a single banner. |

As far as dealing with money, why can't we all just go back to trading chickens? That seemed to work pretty damn well. |

Money disputes seem more exciting when currency does not exist. |

"I'm going to go barter for an Xbox 360."
"Oh? What are you bartering?"
"Well, I don't really make anything, so I'm going to get a lonely fat girl pregnant and trade her baby for it." |

I think a sort of fusion of both works. It is impossible to make people uniform because they are different from the start, their DNA. And those differences can at most be suppressed, and that only with force, which leads to inhuman conditions a là Khmer Rouge Cambodia. Pure capitalism, however, leaves any unfortunate people as roadkill, which is against humanities ethical responsibility.
Socialism as we have it isn't perfect, but a good start.

Because chickens are not easily transportable, storeable and have no real set worth. Currency as we have it is backed by a value: Every nation has a honking lot of gold somewhere in a vault which is what gives that funny paper it's worth. Technically, we still trade: We trade ownership certificates of a fraction of our national treasure. That 10 $ bill is trading 10 $'s worth of gold nuggets. |
