Our discussion today points for the famed young boy from the hill side of Onett. He brings PSI prowesses he never even had to the battlefield. He's also one of the big veterans: He was very well known for being SSB64's hardest character to unlock. Say, Classic on Normal with 3 lives and no continues isn't something any newbie can do.

Is he worth all the positions he got? Is his moveset decent, despite not being really his? Where do you see his buffs from Melee to Brawl? Is the MOTHER series well-represented so far?

Hardest person to unlock, my foot. He was easy to kill.

Ness wasn't worth it. They should've found someone else, IMO. MOTHER series isn't represented much, and his role in the SSE, isn't that great.

I give him a 2 out of five.

Ness is awsum in Brawl. Takes a while to get used to, but when you do, you can kick some serious ass with him.

Meh, he's alright. I would've prefered if they gave him a seperate Final Smash from Lucas though.

I myself personally like Ness, but I do agree that Ness should have had a different final smash, preferrably PSI Rockin.

1. Find someone else? Yeah, how about they put Ness in brawl instead of the Paula they decided to give us!
2. MOTHER has good representation sort of. It's tollerably good.
3. *uber facepalm* He has the second best role in the game IMO. 1. Dedede, 2. Ness, 3. Luigi, (ness being better than luigi because Ness actually got to do something epic when all luigi did was get owned)

Off to my evalluation, I love Earthbound. It's THE best nintendo game I've ever played. So I decide to main him. Unfortunately, I must not have the skill to main him. I rack up damage, but his KO moves. (PK flash, the bat, PK thunder up and around, and the back air) Are hard to get in a proper hit with. People always hit you before PK flash works, The bat is a little bit too slow for me, the PK thunder up and around is hard to aim, and when I do the back air, I can't get it right, so they're on the right edge, and I send them left, all the way across the screen so they barely live.

Ness has the uber godly air game, I mean uber godly. If you get in an air fight with Ness, say your prayers. His up air can be a KO move if you're already in the air, and his Fair is epic for combos, and he can mess up your own combos by altering his fall speed with PSI magnet.

I'm good with Ness, but only 2nd or 3rd place good, while with Pokemon trainer, I'm 1st, or 2nd place good.

All and all, Ness is worth his spot.

I'm an alright Ness-user, I seem to be a bit better with Lucas though. (Then again, doesn't everyone?) >_>

However, I still prefer his PK Fire, because it sits in one place, allowing you to hit your opponent with another attack.

I am a bit disappointed about his cloned FS, though.

I agree: I think that Ness is much better than Lucas, SSSS-BOOM, but much harder to use well.

Back at SSB, Ness was one of the most overall-powerful character, the big drawback being that he is hard to control perfectly.

The reflection of this fact is what differentiates him from Lucas: While Lucas is easy to control, his attacks are either less-powerful, slow, or not-as-useful compared to Ness'. The oddity resides in the fact that Ness' up and down smashes are quick-and-painless while his Side-smash packs quite THE punch, as switched to Lucas.

Ness' moves aren't that bad. PK Flash is quite the ultimate Finisher, PK Thunder Travels fast and pack quite a punch, and his PK Fire traps ennemies for a bit, allowing a possible finish. His PSI Magnet covers his whole body, opposed to Lucas' where it covers the front.

His tilts and areal moves are where the control oddities are at. His second jump doesn't make it easy for accuracy. And since they are vital in building damage and even KO effectively, it takes a bit of time to get used to.

Ah, you obviously haven't faced Lucas all that much. His Psi-Magnet pops out in front, but he switches sides when attacked with an energy attack. the reason it pops out in front is it's another attack. Low Percent, Push-back move.

Now I know I'm a day late but I'm going to fanboy about Ness here for a little bit as he is my main and Earthbound is an amazing game.

Ness is definitely, without a doubt, stronger than his Melee counterpart. I was a part-time Ness user in Melee, not because I liked him less than Roy (my old main) but because he was not very effective. Or at least, less effective.

In Brawl Ness is very strong, and he has a lot of good Push and Pull. Used correctly, you can very easily control where your opponents location on the map. Throwing them into bombs, pulling them into traps, pulling traps to them.

Now I'll outline my favorite moves and why they're my favorite:

Ness's Meteor Smash (Dair); Holy Crap, one of the most amazing moves in the game. Very little charge time and two forms of KO potential. Hit square, if your opponent is off the side of the stage, this high priority smash will rocket them to an almost guarenteed death. If it doesn't hit square, it still has a lot of lateral movement to force your opponent far enough off the stage. And the fact Ness is so floaty, throwing your caution to the wind and attempting this move is never really dangerous.

PK Thunder (B + Up); While some can argue Lucas' is better, I'll always retain my love for Ness'. It's fast, it's strong, and it has a very very different style of kick-back--It pulls. There are very few offensive techniques that pull an enemy towards you, and this, while seemingly a bad idea, is extremely good. If an opponent is trying to escape you, go for an item or the smash ball, you can pull them back and then go forward at them, or whatever they were trying to get. Also, it has an extremely cool effect on Barrels and can create a huge, moving obstacle for your opponent (or yourself if you're not careful).

Also, PK rocket is not only a pretty good recovery move, it's also an extremely good KO move. I've gotten KO's with it against percents as low as 30%

Ness' Headbutt (Uair); Quick Draw, high priority, KO potential move. The Headbutt is a key to any Ness stratagy especially in Headbutt to Rocket attacks (I dunno if this is a popular combo, but it's one of my favs). Not much to say other than it's good.

Ness' Throws; Best throws in the game, almost hands down. Granted this is opinion but I have yet to see throws as satisfying as Ness'. Forward throw is perfect set up for a Meteor, Back Throw has a ton of KO potential, Down Throw keeps the enemy close while disorienting them and his Up throw has a lot of good air.

Those are my 4 favorite moves... I could rant more but this is already very tl;dr... so I'll stop :B
