After all, you must remember- being in-character is allowed, but it is not a requirement, and members are not required to know about the character you are.
Also, there's a difference between all-out role-playing and being in-character. Pure role-playing topics and plots should be kept to their appropriate forums; just as non role-playing threads should be kept to their appropriate forums. |

This was what I was trying to say, and yet you asses were so defensive about this whole thing -.- So you guys will only listen to mods hmm? ok then I TRY to stop all the drama, I even wrote that rant remember? Just the way some people have reacted to this thread (ie, Popple) is a clear indication that some people here simply despise how Digibutter started.
Does everyone remember when Chaos Dimentio posted her fun little RPs in Off-Topic, even after RPOT was made? Nobody complained, AND EVERYBODY LIKED THEM. So if one person, a moderator, does it, it's perfectly fine, but if a group of people does it, OMG *crag* OFF THIS ISN'T RPOT.
So what if I act in character? It doesn't matter. It SHOULDN'T matter. The only reason it does is because some people can't stop being so damn territorial about it. |

Sorry if I might be de-railing here but from the things I have found out by reading this topic I had ignored.
What reason have I to care what people think of being in character I do it many times out side of the RP section. |

Thank you Cody.
RP-Spam is actually part of the reason why I stopped my attempts to find a new name that would suit me. I was scared that I might become a spammer (although in an awesome character) or that spam would be caused because of me.
And, of course, the realization that Medikoopa suited me just fine. |

Bottom line:
Digibuter is an RPing site. That is what it was founded from, and so it shall remain. Those who are frustrated with people using Name Tags as a means to RP are just asses. Ignore them.
I go back to my ice cream now. |

It really just comes down to the fact that people have a right to do what they want... as long as it's not harmful to the site or others. I think we should just respect each other's rights, because if anything is truly harmful, it's the territorial attitude of "us vs. them" in respect to OT and RP. |

TSSG, I don't remember when Chaos Dementio posted any RPs in OT. If CD did, i would deeply oppose it. And it's natural that one, awesome RP could go on in OT without problems, but when multiple people are doing it it becomes more of a problem.
Anyway, I can't stand this RPing in OT. Sure, I'm all for in-characterness and all, but when two characters get in a fight with astericks, that's where I draw the line. It's perfectly fine if we have somebody typing something like *facepalm* or *shot*, okay if there's the occasional *flees thread* or *eats your face*, as long as the responses aren't something like this: "*tries to get face out of your mouth. [roll=2] 1 = gets face out, 2 = fails* or something like that. You can act in character and speak in a funny accent or evilly or whatever, but don't RP. Off-Topic is just not where it belongs.
And guys, stop talking about Digi's past. It used to be a place of in-character-ness, thread derailing, constant item usage, and pure, concentrated epic. We're WAY far away from that now. There's no way we can go back to the good ol' days, especially when you guys can't tell the difference between RPing and simply being in-character, and when so many of you are in-character as some non-Mario series character, an anime/cartoon character, an original character, highly altered Mario characters, etc. We're not going to bring back the good old days by having an RP fight between a Winged Kamek who's Almight Ruler of the Universe and some anime character that only the RPOTers recognize. Deal with it and start RPing in the right section, RPOT or RP. You already have 2 sections, one of which is near Off-Topic in popularity. Use them and get out of the section where people go to relax, be silly/stupid, and talk casually. There is not supposed to be RPing in there, especially not your version of it.
You can still go to OT, as long as you don't RP. Again, I'm fine with in-characterness and maybe a RIDICULOUSLY SMALL amount of non-RPOT-style RPing in OT, like with epical plot development during a modplot or item war, but that's it. |

I agree with UltiMario a fair amount here.
I believe TSSG is thinking of my Dimension D topic... I think I made one at some point... then again that might have just been the July 4 party from last year. I KNOW I made one then. If he was thinking of "Hail Dimentio...", well, I didn't make that one. I'm not sure what he meant.
Anyway... In-characteredness is fine, I think, yes. As opposed to outright RP. You see, we do still need to also respect what each forum is designated for. We can't go too clearly outside the boundary of what a certain forum is about.
This is why I said at an earlier point in OT that I do NOT consider myself Dimentio when I'm posting Dimentio-like in OT at any given time. I'm just harboring the 'essence' of the character. I'm not acting like I AM the evil jester, just kind of emulating him, really, and I'm not there to interact with other characters AS him. I'm still me, just... in-character. It is indeed different, in this perspective, I think, from RP.
If we can adhere to something like this and respect one another then it's a definite step in a better direction from the current situation, IMHO. |

I think I do now, vaguely. Thanks for clarifying. |

Good, excellent job. We've isolated the problem (well, SD and KG and LC have, excellent job). Now, I've noticed that, unless given a strong directive, the people of digibutter will try to exploit every loophole they can in harassing "Role-Players in mah Off-Topic", and Role-Players will strike back in disdain.
So what we need is a clearly-defined guideline, example, etc. It needs to be promoted by the moderating staff at what they agree is an appropriate level. And, of course, all taking after Lord Bowser's wonderful example.
Or at least that's just my belief.
Also, I demand a "You got your role-playing into mah off-topic" banner to be made for comedic purposes. |

I've thought of writing such a thing, but I wanted to first see if the fire died down soon enough before doing so. [sidenote]Oh, and you can call me CD rather than SD, Mister I. That's who I still consider myself to really be. [/sidenote] |
