In my experience they are people who are worth getting to know. sometimes they need help, yes, but they are people. bottom line, they have feelings too. and they deserve to be treated as people. |

I've alway wondered, how does a person become...mental?
Theres a few mental people at my school. One of them tried to touch me, which made me think that all mental people are...homosexual. So I tried to hate them. But once I got to know a bit more about them...I started to feel sorry for them. Of course, they annoy me a lot, but I try to help them sometimes. |

My school is full of people who think i'm mentally retarded for being quiet all the time. I don't respond to people I don't know. So when they speak to me, i'll just ignore them and they end up calling me retarded. End of story.~
Mostly everybody, including teachers baby me. Except one of them.~
Thank god she's sexist.~
But then again, some others like to call me gay, a faggot, or just push me around. In the end i'll ignore it.~
Really, I also bully mentally retarded kids. behind there backs. but other then that I won't even speak to one because I just don't get to do that.~ |

Really, I'm fine with them, unless they take advantage of their condition.
Truthfully, some can really annoy me. |

Some of them are really just normal people that need some help... and I always feel bad for them because they are treated like idiots.
Some of them are just plain idiots that make bad choices and use their disability as an excuse, I also feel sorry for them, but in a different way. |

I had a friend with a disorder (I think ADHD or something, it was a long time ago and I'm not sure). She was pretty nice, and you could say we were both dorks. I always felt bad that she was automatically shoved off in everything because of something she was born with; one time, there was even a teacher who shoved her when she didn't immediately move out of her way. However, even though I never said anything about it, I sometimes tended to lose my patience because she would listen to whatever the other kids told her, which usually consisted of insulting me or pulling tricks on me. |

My sister has autism so I don't like people who make fun of people like my sister.
>:
On my view of them, they are fine with me. I don't think they're weird or different. They're just the same as everyone else on this planet. |

I'm fine with most of them. I've heard of some of them ( I don't really like referring to them as them because it makes them seem like monsters or something ) taking advantage of their illnesses. Like touching girls' breasts, kissing girls and stuff like that. That's when I start to hate them. :/ |

I've had bad experiences with one before. Now, before you all think I always hated him, let me say this: LIES AND SLANDER.
I met him in second grade, his name was Matt, he was a tad bit on the... odd side. I befriended him and we were ok friends. He invited me to a birthday party, it was a pool party. Things were ok, I did not know how to swim at the time. My friend Todd was there as well. We were throwing this ball around, and it strayed to the deep end. Now, Matt swam pretty well, but the parents weren't around SUPERVISING. So I went to get the ball and slipped into the deep end. Todd tried to save me, he ended up almost downing. We clung to each other, pushing the other underwater gasping for air, shouting "HELP" as loud as we could. We almost drowned. Somehow we made it over to the side and cling on. We thanked each other and everything. The parents never came or cared, I could have died. I owe Todd my life. (Yes, he earns the title "GOOMBALICIOUS")
Now, you know me, I never hold anything against anyone, so I just let it go for a while.
He never matured from second grade. In about 3rd grade, these counselors came around, asking if we had problems with anyone. Again, I can't lie, so I said "Ehh, I think Matt's kinda a baby about certain things..." then all the sudden I got a stupid counceling class thing with him. It was just me, him, and a teacher. The teacher was very nice and gave us little games. I held in my slight hatred and let him have fun. Whatever. I was free of him for a few years until 7th grade.
I befriended a few people in my classes. I only had to deal with Matt during reading (I think).
So, during reading, I especially saw his craziness. He would go in strange positions on his chair, pick his nose, make odd sounds, put his hands in his pants and other stuff. Now, he wasn't flat-out retarded, he had a tinge of it. So he milked it of anything he could. He could not do homework, or get in trouble. Which annoyed me. He began to harass me and my friends, no matter what we did. I went to the guidance counselor and told him, no trouble. He did it again, no trouble. So I endured though 8th and couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted to get a jumpstart in my career, so I decided to go to a trade school. I got in, thank god. I've been Matt-Free since. I haven't had to deal with him for 2 years. (Three in September).
So thats my encounter. I think if they are completely able to exist in a society they should not be immune to punishment.
There was another kid, he was worse than Matt. But he was kind, and tried his best. He did not try to milk the system or use excuses, he tried his best, and I admire that. I actually was kinda friends with him, I did not mind working on a project with him, or anything.
I have nothing against the restarted or mentally disabled, but when they're just not nice, I don't like them. A person is a person, and a good person is my friend, and a bad is not. Thats how it works. I would love to tell a story about my sister encountering him, but I'll save that for another time.
Phew, I'm done telling my story...for now. |

My brother has Angelman's Syndrome, which is extremely similar to autism. So yeah, I'm not too fond of those who are against people with mental disabilities.
It's quite a different experience, having an 8-year old brother who can't talk, feed himself, or figure out right from wrong. It can be stressful sometimes, but my whole family has been able to learn from him. |

Well I would go with CFC with this but I will also point out I have ether a learning or an attention disorder which makes it hard for me to pay attention sometimes.
Marker Magikoopa has the same thing but he says he found away to have it work for him. |
