Yes I know the game has been out for a while, shaddap.

Yesterday evening I got the Orange Box from Best Buy, they had it for 40$ but I got it for 30 because they forgot to update the store listing =D. The first game I decided to play first was Portal. I started playing this morning about 9am until around 9:30, I didn't get past the first few levels and I already recognized it as one of the best games I had ever played and incredibly ingenious. It had great, mind- bending gameplay with hilarious dark humor. I started back up around 2 and when the credits rolled it was 6:15. 4 hours 15 minutes, and thats including all of the restarts I had to have and the 3 times I had to play GLaDOS because my computer blows. The final battle is probably the best part of the game, and the dialogue made it one of my favorites.

The ability to use portals in a 3D environments seemed like it would be incredibly difficult, but it wasn't. You start off only being able to shoot blue portals, until they give you the ability for orange. The first puzzle to solve is getting a glowing, deadly, yellow power ball into a a port using portals, although simple at first they soon become mind-bending. When I was introduced to sentrys I was excited. It didn't disappoint, while being fun to try and get passed, the comments they made were hilarious. More levels follow. I was disappointed at the fact that you only have the companion cube for 1 level, I expected more. I was also very, very, very mad at the fact that game takes almost no time at all. Going through the actual levels only takes half the game while the rest is running around aperture trying to get out.

With amazing gameplay and great humor, Portal is one of my new favorite games of all time. Hopefully Portal 2 will follow in the epic laughs, cool story, and amazing puzzle gameplay that this one did.

If I had to rate I'd give it a 9.75/10. A better, more developed storyline would've been great, an more length.

Totally agree'd. The GLaDoS battle is hilarious, BTW. Also, I can't wait for Portal 2. I want to know more about the character development and shit.

IS there really any point in reviewing Portal? I mean, it's unanimously regarded as awesome (even by Yahtzee(Zero Punctuation), and we all know how hard that is), so why bother?

Reviews are not just about if a game is good or bad. It is about why a game is good or bad (or both), and sharing your own personal experience (which can be different for everyone).

Nobody said anything about a multiplayer Portal. They're making a sequel, but it'll probably be single-player only.
