Name Changes Miyamoto made a sequel to the original Super Mario Kart for the Super Famicom, and wanted to make a 3D version of it, but ended up to be a 2.5D. Originally, it was called Super Mario Kart 2, but then got renamed with Super Mario Kart Race (That's the R), then it got renamed AGAIN, and became Mario Kart R, and took out the Super, because it sounded something that was from the Super Famicom, so it became Mario Kart Racers. But since the game was already a racing game, it became Mario Kart 64.
