A horrendous screech split the heavy silence, and the Nightmare leapt out of the shadows, intent on ripping Fawful apart.

The Nightmares screeched, slashing at the Boos who tried to hinder them as they circled the Steeple, looking for an entry.
Doopliss, currently in Tubba Blubba form, was blocking up all the windows with the wooden beams that had fallen on the first attack.
He knew it wouldn't stop the things for long-after all, those claws were sharp enough to pierce intangible materials-but it would, at the very least, give them time to prepare.
The Duplighost motioned to the Boos inside the Steeple, who were carrying various broken beams between them, and crouched, awaiting the splinter of the blockades.
The Nightmares shrieked in evident fury as they swooped around the hulking building, seeking to gain entry. Their eyes glowed in anger.

Birdo gasped for air, and used a rock to support her tired weight. She outran the nightmare. But she was still in the wasteland, teeming with awful creatures. She decided to stay around there for at least a minuet, since there were no traces of any other nightmares. She sadly watched a tumbleweed roll by what was once a trail to her home village. The place was miserable overall. A flash, then a booming noise followed. More lightning.

Petey opened his Jaw, and attempted to Nom the beast that unleashed a discharge upon it's head being damaged. Petey took an item out of his mouth, and threw it at the fourth wall. It was an RPG-ifier!

Petey piranha flies to creepy steeple in attempt to find a place to heal himself.

The Nightmares screech and dive at the blocked up windows.
The crunch of timber can be heard, and Doopliss mouths to the Boos.
"Go!"
The Boos split up and start trying to ram the Nightmares with their makeshift weapons.
Doopliss himself lumbers out in Tubba Blubba form, roaring, and starts swiping at the birds flying above.

BoulderGeist heard a some loud rumbles from outside the creepy steeple basement. He Slowly moved to the stair way but realizing he cant use stairs breaks open the wall with a bomb boo. Boulder Geist sees some giant mosnters outside. Bouldergeist being the rageful monster he is creates a bunch of bomb boos and send them towards the beasts. The creatures thinking those boos were just a different a color swiped its claws at the black ball of ecto which then in turn exploded. All the birds stood their with ash covering their faces in a very comical way. Then they get really angry and spot bouldergeist hiding

Petey spat a circle of goop around himself to summon little super mario sunshine monsters.He also took afew instant seeds out of his mouth that became walking piranha plants. Petey made himself a mini army. He couldn't handle another one of those birds.

Luckily for Fawful, his Headgear gave him the gift of flight. He quickly maneuvered out of the way and opened fire on the beast.

The creature shrieked and fired several blades out of its perpetually gaping mouth, obviously aiming to destroy Fawful's Headgear before killing its owner.

The Nightmares quickly retreated, realising their usual strategy of charging, shrieking and ripping wouldn't work.
You could almost, painfully, feel the cogs and gears of their tiny minds turning with little grinding sounds as the birds did their best to try and think.
Doopliss and the Boos took this opportunity to scatter them and chased them off, Doopliss still in his Tubba Blubba guise.
One of the birds had stayed, still scratching something in the wood. It gave them a last, evil glare, then followed its brethren.
Doopliss walked over, turning back, and whatever blood he had chilled as he slowly read the sinister message carved in the aged timber.
'WE WILL BE BACK'

Of course, being the spazzy/insane 10-year-old he was, Fawful had never gotten around to designing a way to protect his Headgear from attack. It was punctured in several key places and exploded in a cloud of soot, dropping one fried Bean to the ground.

Wart heard the clanking and his eyes flickered opened. There was someone in Subcon? He didn't really care. But he set his goal, he was determined to get out of the ruins he had been trapped in, for his people, and himself. He began to wind up his arm, to destroy the bricks that were blocking his path...

[Erirudo]

The Nightmare advanced, clicking menacingly...then, with obvious dissatisfaction, clattered away, sensing that the small Bean couldn't be infected, and it was too much of a bother killing him, as he couldn't be digested anyway.

Doopliss frowned and started packing a small bag with his most treasured possessions, while the anxious Boos watched.
"I'm going to see who else is in danger, slick......can you watch the Steeple for me?"
The Boos nodded, paler than usual but determined to do their job right.

Petey made his way to twilight town, with his miniature army. Together, they scared the people into their homes, being well, an army with a giant man eating piranha plant, and crossed twilight road. It was a pretty safe path because the hyper goombas were bad guys, thus, weren't insane. Afew of the paths that sook mario's partners/moves in TTYD were made mockery of by Petey's leafy fist of PAIN.

Doopliss sighed and set out from the Steeple, taking a last look at his home before going down the Twilight Path...and bumping into Petey.
"Woah, slick! What are you doing here? ...and why are you so beaten up?"

Petey pointed up in the sky, and then tried to imitate a bird, flapping wings, and roaring.
