Because there is none, sure theres GD but General Discussion shouldn't be the place where we act serious all the time, it should mainly be an area where we can just discuss stuff without it being random like Off Topic is. And Off Topic shouldn't be like General Discussion like alot of people are trying to make it out to be. With a forum for Serious Discussion we no longer have to discuss boring and serious nature in General Discussion making it unattractive to those Causal members who want to keep a good median, and we wouldn't have to worry about those causal members complaining about Off Topic being unserious and attempting to make it unfun for our fellow OTtards. You see...with a serious discussion forum we can move those people who want to discuss politics, and what flavor of coffee they drink out of GD and into the Serious Discussion forum and move those causal complainers into GD, so everyone will be happy, there will be no need to bitch about Off Topic being spammy, the causals will finally have a place they can call there own and the Serious ones will have a new home to discuss there political views and other serious matters.

I think this could dramatically help digibutter as a whole and possibly end current problems, what do you guys think?

A serious discussion forum for politics, religion, and all that good stuff has been suggested multiple times by me and others, but Francis has always disagreed with the idea of it.

And I'm starting to agree with him for disagreeing with it. My reasons may be different, though.

Normally, I would support a serious dicussion forum, but the site's community's activity has to improve, first; GD has to become more active before an extra discussion forum is added, as OT is, without a doubt, the most popular on the site. If SD was added, it wouldn't get as much discussion as a forum of that nature normally would, while GD gets less. OT would still be the most popular forum on the site.

Another thing. You're labeling members as "OTards" or "casuals." Maybe even "RPOTards." Why can't we get away from that, and just be nerrs? Some people come to the site just for OT, when they should come to the site for other boards as well as OT; I mean, the community should get away from the idea that there's a "center" to digibutter, and that OT is that "center." So, I disagree, for now. Wait until GD gets more activity, and the overall balance of activity on the sites' boards to even out (The addition of clans could help with this), and then think about suggesting an extra board.

If you don't want to read all that, what I'm saying is, basically, wait until the activity on the boards evens out, and all of them are fairly popular. If SD was added now, it would just be another somewhat inactive board.

i mostly agree with you, but the individual forums will never be balanced, each game will have a short spurt of extreme popularity, die down, then just die, i don't RPOT or RP at all.... so I don't know about that, but only forums that are general enough to enclose past present AND future can thrive, whereas individual forums will die down, maybe that wasn't what you were talking about, but it is the flaw of specification, it is too specific for a steady flow of new ideas. But i agree with not making the SD just yet the [m] tag normally works just fine if you put them in GD.
