The first big news of E3... Nintendo has announced an addon to the Wii Remote that will allow for true 1:1 3-D motion detection. Just like that third-party accessory coming to Xbox and PS3. More details will come during the Nintendo conference tomorrow.

Quote:
Nintendo's upcoming Wii™ MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote™ controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo's commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

Here's hoping they announce a new game to go along with it. Mario Sword Fighting please.

This is great! Finally they release something to track motion more powerful than that cheap accelerometer they have!

Cool, but we don't know what upcoming games will support it yet. Does this mean some games won't be playable until we buy it, or will it be a completely optional add-on? E3's right around the corner, so I suppose we don't have much time to wait until Nintendo tells us more.

(As I've already said in the Cbox), I hope this accessory is free or comes bundled with a game (free again plx) and has more than 1 or 2 compatible games *glares at Balance Board*

Oh, it actually looks good too! Not too much of an annoyance, I mean. Neat!

A friend of mine says it's pretty much a gimmick. A Useless Gimmick! In fact, the only thing more useful than this is a Button Masher, WITHOUT Motion Controls! The Kind Nester grew up with! You might as well demand to Nintendo the following: "NO MORE GIMMICKS! WE WANT BUTTON MASHERS! WE WANT MOTHER 3! I WANNA BE FAT, NARF!!"
