Well, I've been playing this game for a while now, so I'd like everyone here to know how great I think it is.

Story: 8/10. The story is amazing. At the start, you have a choice of 3 out of 6 characters. The first character you pick influences the storyline. As of yet, I've only played through storyline#3, Hawk & Lise, and I actually liked it. The story is great, but it concludes rather fast. The story revolves around the Mana Tree and the Sword of Mana, but it doesn't conclude the way you'd think it would..

Music: 8/10. This is what Square's good for. The music is just amazing and lovable. One problem, though, is that they recycle the tunes alot.

Graphics: 9/10. Possibly some of the best and most well-polished graphics I've seen for the SNES. The colours aren't that great, but they do convey the mood.

Gameplay: 8/10. What makes this game so great is the party layout and class change system. At level 18, you characters can choose to traverse the paths of light or darkness. The same is done at level 38, resulting in a total of six classes total. That, combined with there being 20 class possibilities for each storyline, results in a total of 720 different playthroughs, if my math is right. One major catch, however, is how hard it is to level. It takes 15k exp to get to level 19 after your first class change. The battle is active time, where you move your characters around the screen and battle, occaisonally attacking with "power attacks".

Overall impression: 8.5/10. A great game, but some of it's factors bring it down a notch. I'd recommend trying it, but not for those that aren't too good with these sort of games, as the battles CAN get hard.

Not many people have. It was intended to come into North America, but it never did. A fan translation of the ROM was released in 2000.

awesome
Kickass game. I played it for a while, but stopped at the ghost ship because the boss kept killing me. I'm pretty sure my party consisted of Hawk, Lise and Duran, I'm not sure, but I know my party leader was Hawk (who was also my best character, so I couldn't use him against said boss).

You, Sir, have GOOD taste. Very Happy

I guess we can say that Sword of Mana is similar, huh?

Here's a tip, use Angela or Kevin. Kevin's Dual Attack allow him to hit for massive damage at night. The boss is pie with Holy-based attacks. Oh, if you think he's hard? Archdemon, the final Hawk/Lise boss, is the hardest boss in-game next to the Black Rabite.Edit: I'd restart the game if I were you. A very efficent party is Duran, either light or dark for class changes, Angels, Rune Master in the end for Deathspell (999 against bosses) and Kevin as his Dark-Dark class.

It's an efficent party.

Oh, and at that point, I already had my first class change.
