We need a solution to RPOT having so many "inside-plots" spanning many topics and the advanced Role Playing going unnoticed.
What if you could start a plot and it could have it's own entire FORUM? So you could have a sticky describing the plot, characters, etc. Then multiple topics to do whatever. The creator could have moderating abilities.
It would be like sub-forums... you go to Role-Play, and then there would be a list of plots there. Maybe it costs 100 coins to start a new plot, to keep there from being a huge list of unused plots. Or maybe they delete themselves if they go unused for a week.
So the end result is that there is no one central forum... every thing would be split up amongst a bunch of forums, giving everyone equal exposure. Obviously people would complain when their forum is ignored, but at least they get a fair chance. |

I like this idea. Certainly would remove most (if not all) of the clutter... |

We need to give rebates if a plot goes ignored. Nobody should spend 100 coins on absolutely nothing.
Other then that, it still wouldn't keep people from ignoring people in favor of others. |

Not supported. There's way too many plots, and despite the price, there would end up being a flood of plot forums. Plus, I would feel embarrassed if I needed to buy my own forum just for one plot...I just have a feeling it would end with plot flooding, plot raiding, wars between plots, and people flaming certain plots. Plus, if all plots are confined to one board each, then you don't get to have that "plot mixing". It just further divides the RPing community, and people will end up being so occupied with their own big plots that RP and RPOT would end up suffering.
I know I'm not one to talk, though, considering the fact that the Oress Plot consists of a bunch of separate locations and topics...but I'll probably end up making one of those freewebs/proboards/whatever sites for it to prevent flooding RP or something.
Plus, what happens when the plot's over, and it ends up being a short plot? Or what if it dies down for a while and gets deleted, only for the creator to want to revive it a week later?
Sure, it'd be nice at first, but in the long run...I just can't really see this working out. Too many plots, too many people making them, too many of them dying or going ignored...it all just adds up to too many problems. |

JUST PUT YOUR PLOT IN A TOPIC
GOD
IT'S NOT THAT HARD
People don't understand that in an RP FORUM you say THIS IS THE SHIT THAT IS GOING DOWN and then people post!
You don't need to give them an entire forum to dick around in.
People think that just because it's not RPOT, that they can't put down a paragraph of text and then just tell people to go.
YOU CAN DO THAT
IT'S ROLE PLAYING
Everyone thinks you have to be all *crag* uptight and serious outside RPOT and it isn't true.
THE FACT IS, different topics for the same plot would never work outside of RPOT and the only reason it does now is because all the elitest know what is going on.
YOU WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO READ EVERY POST AND EVERY TOPIC TO KEEP UP WITH THE STORY LINE!
It's like the regular people are afraid to go in RPOT because they won't understand it.
And the RPOT people won't go into RP because they think that they can't roleplay without making a *crag* 36 page essay of text everytime they post.
HERE IS WHAT YOU DO!
1. Get rid of RPOT replace with RP OTHER
2. RP Other is used for RP's about liscensed properties. Games, Anime, Whatever. All you have to do to start an RP there is mae a paragraph or so of backstory and possibly include a character creation sheet if you really want to.
THEN YOU JUST GO AND RP TO THAT PLOT IN THAT TOPIC
3. RP gets a seperate sub forum called CHARACTER CREATION
Each person get's one topic to list off all their individual character sheets which are then approved by the RP staff, who don't even have to be mods.
THEN, they can do the same things the RP Other people can.
PARAGRAPH
POST UR PRE-MADE SHEET
GO RP
It's Easy, It's Simple, and no one is left out.
Plots are constrained to one topic so anyone can join.
Everyone has to go to the front of the forum WHERE ALL THE TOPICS ARE to get to their RP so no one can ever be ignorant of a new plot being made.
EVERYONES CHARACTER IS ACKNOWLEDGE AND IT IS EASY TO ACCESS INFORMATION AND BACKSTORY FOR THEM
RPOT people get an archive of their characters WHICH LETS FACE IT A SEPARATE AVATAR IS NOT ENOUGH TO EXPLAIN WHO YOUR CHARACTER IS
Everyone who couldn't RP before now can start off in RP Other which has no approval and then can move up to RP if they so choose.
IT WORKS

I've seen a lot of different RP setups in the past. It really depends on how you want the roleplaying community to work.
I've seen setups where the roleplay forum is built up of subforums, each subforum being a preset area. This works for "hardcore" communities, or communities that work together, kind of like an ongoing plot (for example, setting it up like Digibutter City, or the Bitlands or something). This is my favourite kind, but it probably wouldn't work on Digibutter all too well, as people would want more areas to mess around in.
I've seen setups like the one that we have currently. these work well when you want everyone just to run around and have fun. Only problem is that in a main roleplaying area, it's more likely to have stuck-up assholes ("elitists"). It works, but since there are so many plots, some get ignored.
Now, this strategy... It would get cluttered. Badly cluttered. It's a great concept, taking from the first thing I said, but it wouldn't work. It could be set up like blogs, which might work... but people might not want to visit someone's profile to view their plot.
Really, it would be best just to leave things the way they are. Either that, or in the main RP forum, you could temporarily try the first idea and implement the ability for members to "buy" space to make a new area for a certain amount of time... kind of like paying rent.
It really depends on what the roleplaying community wants. |

I really like this. I'd get involved with RP if it happened.
Sadly, no one else seems to like it. D:
...But that's not what the poll says... |

Here's an idea.
RPOT Stays to serve as the useless ground for messing with your characters or trying one out/developing them.
RP stays the standard Role Play forum. What Popple said.
Miyamojo, we don't need it. We can convert it into Popple's RP: Other, and the standard RP forum becomes a forum for original plots only.
We can give your idea a try, Francis, and see how it all blends together. |

Giving members there own forums is just going to create utter hell because each forum will have to have it's own specific set of rules and we will develop elitist groups that think they are better than the other forums AND ALL WE KNOW AND LOVE WILL GO DOWN THE *crag* DRAIN AS THE WORLD COLLAPSES IN ON ITSELF TO LEAVE BUT AN ETERNAL SEA OF RAGING FIRE |

Not supported... It'd really cause more problems than it solved, and like Tayl said, you lose the fun of mingling plots.
And as for an RP forum JUST for canon characters, I don't support at all. A lot of great RP has come from the interaction between OCs and canons.
I still don't think there's anything wrong with the current setup. But that could just be me. .-. |

No one said that you couldn't have OC's in canons.
You just couldn't put canons in OC's. |

But you're an Avid RPOT visitor. The main issue with RPOT is that it's impenetrable. I left for a week, AND WHEN I GOT BACK, I HAD TO QUIT RPOT BECAUSE I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING THAT WAS GOING ON. If I've had any effect on RPOT within the past 3 months, it's because Msdevin remembered to use that sword. (>_>) |
