Changes for RP:
RP would be changed to a more serious roleplaying forum in which only original characters are permitted. Each plot is constrained to one topic. Within one week if your topic has not had any posts it will be locked to draw more attention to the newer RPs.
Requirements for a topic in this forum would be at least a paragraph or so of backstory, each person must post a link to their character or their sheet, it must be an original plot not based on any existing properties or franchises except for your own.
Subforum called Character Registration will be created. Each member will get their own topic in which to post their characters sheets. Each character will then must be approved by a RP staff member before use in the RP forum.
Changes for RPOT:
Renamed RP Other.
All RPs here would be based off of existing properties. All characters used here would either be based off the property or be original. Each plot is constrained to one topic. Each RP will be locked after a week of inactivity to draw attention to more recent RPs.
Requirements for each RP requires some kind of backstory, either posting who you are playing or providing a sheet for your original character, and providing a character sheet for other people to use to make original characters (A basic one will be provided in a sticky).
If you need me to spell it out anymore then this, please don't be afraid to ask.
This is my proposal, I'm laying it all out.
I've seen this system work very well on forums like this, and I think it would work here too.
I see no reason to deny this format, as it has few cons besides ending the elitest propaganda. |

I have a few suggestions for this suggestion. If a thread goes inactive, but a member wishes to open it up again, he/she could ask the permission of an RP council member to re-open it, and explain why he/she wants it re-opened.
Also, the opening post in the RP forum must contain at least two long paragraphs, and each reply must be a paragraph in length, as well.
Instead of each member having a permanent character thread, the individual threads are for RP council members to approve/point out what needs to be improved alone, and they are removed once they are finished, to save space. The character sheet is then posted in a single character list thread- one member gets a single post in that thread for all their characters. Also, if a member wants more original characters, he/she must wait at least two weeks for a council member to approve another.
That's my input. |

I prefer the subforum method though, as it allows people to add new characters whenever they want and it let's everyone locate their own characters easily instead of wading through dozens of pages, which is one of the current problems in RP. |

I don't see why topics need to be locked after a week. Complications arise, you know.
Furthermore, I don't see a single thing wrong with the current RP system at all. |

If we could just add in RP Other and keep RPOT, then it'd be much better.
Sometimes, I like just casually mingling with other characters, which is what RPOT should be about. RP should be exactly as you say, Popple. |

I agree with you though, SA. Revamped RP and RPOT staying the same sounds perfect. |

Now, it's not a bad idea...but I have a suggestion.
There should be a Casual RPing board as well, where non-OCs and OCs could interact, but it'd be more strict than RPOT. Like, you could make a Tile Pool topic, and have a plot with it, but you wouldn't need to write big, long paragraphs. Of course, they couldn't consist of wimpy little three-word responses either. That would get rid of all of the "I'm bored." and "Amuse me." topics.
Then, in Casual RPing, there would be a "Lounge" sticky, "Intro" sticky, and "Alt Suggestions" sticky. The Lounge would be a very simple topic where Alts could just mingle without a set plot or location, Intros would be where you could introduce your new Alts, and Alt Suggestions would be where you ask "I got bored of ____, who should I replace them with?" and all.
For things like Alt Fonts, Theme Songs, and so on; you can always make a sticky in your blogs.
I also like the idea to just keeping RPOT in addition to True RPing and RP Other, but...

Keep it the same.
It's annoying me how people who BARELY use RPOT/RP are saying the system is "broken."
The way the majority of us see it, if I'm right, is that it's completely fine... |

There is nothing wrong with the current system. Why fix something that isn't broken? Trying to fix something that isn't broken may result in it breaking. |

It is broken. RP and Miyamojo are dead, and RPOT has lost the since of craziness and randomness it was supposed to have. It would be too hard to enforce the plot rule as just about every thread in RPOT is a mini-plot or part of a multi-topic plot, and those plots have some relation to a an all-around "RPOT" universe. Plus, the current RP isn't distinguished from RPOT as much as it should be, which is probably a big factor in why it's so inactive.
Something needs to be done. And, with a bit of tweaking, this is the best possible solution we've seen. |

A) Delete Miyamojo
B) Do ShadowArticuno's Idea of fixing RP with Popple's proposition and leaving RPOT alone.
C) Quit trying to add "fixes" and add limits on how people can RP for fun. |

ULTIMATE PROBLEM: If we remove RPOT, everyone will get angry. If we keep it, it will continue to have more posts than any other RP forum. |
