Nintendo has made a Statement talking about the complaints about the lack of hardcore gamers by Nintendo, and that they're releasing too many casual ones. Pretty interesting, huh?
Basically, what they say is they're not ignoring the hardcore gamer at all, the only problem is that big hardcore games (Mario, Zelda, etc.) take at least two or three years to make, so they can't release too many, unlike "casual" games which take a lot less development time. So basically they're working on the next Mario, Zelda, Pikmin and other hardcore titles, they just need to take their time to work on them, so we shouldn't expect any first party core games in Early 2009. Personally, if true I think that's great to hear. I think they should take as long as possible to make a game, all that's necessary for the end result to be amazing. However, what I'm concerned about is that statement could be a lie, and all they're doing is just not working on core games to focus on casual ones. Who knows, really. At the very least, it's good they're addressing this issue. |

If they were doing so, they would have *crag* told us, not saying "Ooooh, don't worry, we still care about the hardcore gamers, don't worry. By the way, here's some shit nobody cares about." They don't seem to realize how much of a reaction they would have gotten if they said "We're working on Zelda". |

Ever hear about something called strong implications? They were most likely telling us without telling us. |

All the Nintendo fanboys grasping at any thread available to maintain a sense of hope does amuse me so. |

Actually, it's more like this.
Us: Where's the hardcore games?
Cammy: I LIKE PUPPIES! DO YOU LIKE PUPPIES? MY KIDS LIKE PUPPIES.
Us: Erm... *Buys PS3s*
I better see a new Zelda title within the next two years or I'm going to stop playing Nintendo. |

I really don't see what you're all complaining about.
Just what are "hardcore games?" Mario, Pokemon and Zelda? Well, what if they make a longer Kirby game? One with a big plot, lots of gimmicks, and three-dimensional gameplay?
Well whaddya know, it's like a Kirby game that does everything the three big Nintendo series do. Would that count as a hardcore game?
Maybe a Yoshi game? Or Star Fox? Or a new series? Is anybody excited for Captain Rainbow?
Those are just some questions that come to mind when I read these kind of topics. |

Quite so. While you all are waiting for Super Mario Grocery Store, I'll be playing LittleBigPlanet, MGS4, and Bioshock. |

Mushroom Men, yeah, and maybe LostWinds. I definitely don't see Samba de Amigo as a hardcore game, or anything that would be fun for more than 10 minutes to a hardcore gamer. |

I still don't really know what 'hardcore' is, oddly enough. Any game thats enjoyable, is good for me.
I'm excited for Captain rainbow, even if I don't have a wii. |

I for one decided to stop bitching about it and take it. If I see a game that I think I'd like, I'll buy it. Many "hardcore" gamers are so friggin' obsessed with their genre they haven't even TRIED casual gaming. But this is why we're getting a PS3. I can only wait for the new Mario platformer for so long before getting irritated at Nintendo. |

You didn't expect that they were already working on Zelda, Mario, and Pikmin?
I'm sorry, but one of those every several months- or every couple of years- does not make Nintendo "hardcore." Nintendo has several great development teams under their belts, such as R & D and Retro Studios, but few are putting out any meaty games. Plus, the all-out casual marketing that Nintendo has been taking apart in has left true gamers in the dust- they've built the image of the Wii up as a casual system themselves- and that is why third parties are putting all this shit on the Wii.
Also, where are the new franchises? And I'm not talking about Wii Sports or Wii Music. I'm talking about actual games.
On the 360, you can get a good game every month or so, and the PS3 is starting to heat up. It isn't that way with the Wii, where there are huge droughts in-between each good game. Nintendo is the master of screwing over its fanbase and somehow managing to keep it- well, I'm not going to be screwed over any longer. I've recognized Nintendo for what it has become, and it is advised that you should, too. |

That would change if I could get an idea I have to a game developer. |
