For those who have either forgotten or just never knew, Disaster: Day of Crisis was one of the many Wii games shown off at E3 2006 two years ago. Since then, it was scheduled to launch in Japan early this year, but was delayed due to “increase the quality of the finished product," according to the games developer, Monolith Soft. But this week without any warning at all, Disaster: Day of Crisis was rated in the Australian Classification Board, having received an M rating for violence, language and.... themes?

Also, the Australian "M" rating is the equivalent of the American "T" rating.

The best part about this news is that this title is a realistic styled first-person shooter, and with all the time it's spent in development there is a hopeful chance that the controls (and visuals) have been tightened as much as possible. Speculation is that this game will launch in time for the holiday season. No word on an American release date yet, but it shouldn't be far off. I will keep you posted.

Disaster: Day of Crisis is the kind of game that Nintendo needed this year at E3. A hardcore, first-party original IP that takes advantage of the Wii's capabilities. Unfortunately, Cammie Dunaway and the rest of the NOA crew forgot about this sleeper hit, but the geniuses at the European division have been working hard to publish this game in time for the holiday season, according to a report by Nintendic.

Along with the fresh-off-the-press October 24 release date comes an official feature set that was leaked.

Quote:
*Survive nature’s most devastating catastrophes in Disaster: Day of Crisis, a panic-inducing survival game for Wii. In a devastatingly short period of time, an unprecedented wave of natural disasters has pummelled the United States. On top of this inexplicable series of disasters, a rogue special forces unit has taken advantage of the chaos and seized a nuclear weapon. Only Ray, a former member of an elite rescue task force, has decided to take a stand.
*Cutting-edge physics and gripping visuals re-create the sheer terror of major catastrophes.
*Players race a car down a mountain to escape a roaring pyroclastic flow, dodge toppling buildings during a devastating earthquake and swim for their lives in a raging flood. No matter what happens, fight to survive.

That's good. I haven't heard much from this game in a long time.
