At first the creature was attempting to "do the deed" to poor Devin, but soon a servant came down carrying a wooden bucket and a metal tray with a lid. The servant put the bucket down at one end of the cage, and then walked to the other side to put the tray down, then left, wordlessly, not helping or saying anything to Devin as the creature ravaged her.
The second the creature detected the bucket, however, he discarded her on the floor like a teddy bear he was tired of and ran over to it. Inside was a big, bloody, raw steak and several fistfuls of dandelions that had been uprooted from the field outside. He took a big bite of the raw steak, blood globbing around his lips, and forced a fistful of dandelions into his mouth too. Chewing loudly and sloppily with his mouth open, he went over to the tray and picked it up. He then went back to Devin, and held it out for her to take.
If she would open the tray, she would find she had been given a small piece of well-done steak, some fresh dandelion greens in a dressing, a roll and a cup of milk.

Devin was too nervous to eat. In fact, she was almost sick with fear. Considering what had almost happened to her, it was a surprise she wasn't crying or anything right now.
She tried to get as far away from the creature as the cell allowed while he was distracted by the food, looking for a possible escape. |

After taking another bite of steak and fistful of dandelions, he followed Devin, still holding her tray of food. He looked at her with pleading eyes, wanting her to take it from him. |

He roared viciously, the scent of blood from the steak on his breath, and shoved the tray into Devin, demanding she take it and eat.

She nearly dropped it, her hands were shaking so badly, but eventually she swallowed the dandelion greens. |

He smiled upon seeing her finish her food. "G-g.... g-good." He patted her on the head, a little bit forcefully, but meaning well.
"W-want... want y-you be heal....thy." He struggled with each word as he said them. |

He turned red with embarrassment and joy as she asked him that. She was asking him a question; she wanted to know about him. If only he remembered more, if only he could tell her more. Not realizing that she was horrified by his attempt to make love to her, he wondered if that was why she liked him, because of (what he thought of as) his amazing skills in that regard. He flexed to show off for her, trying to stop blushing, to maintain his "cool." |
