There are four games in the main series... Fatal Frame, Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, Fatal Frame III: Torment, and Fatal Frame IV: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, which is only out in Japan right now. I'm waiting for it to come out in North America, because I want to give it a go, even though I've only played the first Fatal Frame. It seems like Fatal Frame IV is a standalone by a look at the plot synopsis.
Has anyone else played any of the Fatal Frame games? What did you think of them if so? |

I LOVE Fatal Frame.
The games are fun, even funny at times (if you have a sick sense of humour). The concept is (mostly) original; using a camera to defeat your enemies is an interesting idea.
The one thing I hate is how damn slow everyone runs.
Oh, and Kei from Fatal Frame 3. I hate him, too. |

To be honest, I didn't even know what Fatal Frame was until about 2 or 3 weeks ago, when I found out about Fatal Frame 4.
It looks creepy, but the whole NOT being able to fight back thing kinda... ugh... I dunno. I want to get the fourth one, but if I can't kill anything, I dunno if it's the right kind of game for me. |

Yeah, I love the 'battle system' with the camera. You do fight back, it's just not with guns or knives or anything. You instead capture the spirits of the ghosts with your camera, and there's technique to it. You'll get more Spirit Points by, say, getting a shot that's more centered, or one that's really close, or with a Zero Shot, which is one that's taken right before a ghost attacks and has a short time frame in which to be taken, but does extra damage and earns a lot of points. The longer you keep the center of your camera focused on a ghost, the more energy you charge up to deal greater damage when you snap a shot; it can be tricky as some of the ghosts' movement patterns tend to be quite erratic. You can also upgrade your camera's abilities in different categories, and you've an album that records your shots, so you can look at those if you ever want to just for kicks. =P
Yes though, I loves Fatal Frame, even though the protagonist is always so slow. XP |

That pissed me off so bad because she never ran for ME. :c She just... trotted... |

I've watched lets plays for Fatal Frame and Fatal Frame 2.
I have to say, that was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen in a game.
And the most epic I have ever experienced. |
