Well, this just seems to be another excuse to not look at the post dates. Seriously. They're right there.

Yes, right there in tiny, very ignorable text that noone ever pays attention to anyway.

Well, up until you notice the thread was made by a member who is now inactive or that it has an oddly familiar title and a post by yourself which you don't remember.

I support the idea. Not everybody uses/pays attention to the whole timestamp thing. The only part I ever pay attention to is the hour/minute/second setup I have going, just to see how close I missed a post or something by.

It should be a limit of how many pages it bumps up. Example: Digital butterflies. Good forum. You click on something four topics down.

N-N-N-NECRO POST!

It's not like it even made a huge difference in the least little bit. ONOEZ, THREE TOPICS WERE BUMPED SLIGHTLY DOWNWARD!!!1111!@@@@@

Now, if you go to page fourteen in DB, and post in the lowest topic, THEN you're in trouble.

Maybe a limit on how many it can go up on? Maybe half a page for digital butterflies, and one page for some of the slightly more active forums, then five pages for RPOT, and Off topic, considering so much can happen so fast.

Maybe it could be a little different from what yoshi said, but you get the point.

Just because they don't pay attention doesn't mean that it's excusable. People SHOULD be paying attention to the last post date, and if they choose not to, well, that's their problem.

Remind me exactly why it's necessary to implement a system for the ignorant?

I agree, it would be very useful feature to have. Although, in my opinion, its not exactly the most needed feature, but it would still be very useful.

I could make a joke about Nintendo going casual, but I'd probably get striked. Rolling Eyes

You make it sound like it's something that would be absolutely mind-boggling to implement. It would seriously take like two or three lines of code in the posting system to do.

*system checks thread's last post's date*
*if the last post was made over a week ago, message pops up*
*"yes" or "no" options*

That's just it. You want some automatic system to do something that doesn't even take a second to do.

I'm not trying to make it sound difficult, I'm trying to say we shouldn't hand the ignorant a free ride. We don't do it with the rules, do we?

But that's the thing. Most people don't realize they do it, most people don't pay attention to the little set of numbers.

That's called ignorance.
Now we're going in circles here because it seems that the word "ignorance" is not understood.

I think the idea is a great one, and would especially help newbies that don't understand how the board works, and tries to post in a cOLD topic in a semi-dead forum like Digital Butterflies (or The Underwhere, which is completely dead, pardon the expression), and would warn them about a necropost before it happened. (The first time I got killed, I posted in the VERY FIRST TOPIC in The Underwhere (I think it was an introductions thread or something.) Bam. Instant necropost.)
Idea very much supported. FRANIS MAKE NECROPOST WARNING CODE NAO

No. All you really need to do is to just tell new members to check the date of the post before replying. :\ And if they ignore you, that's their fault, they chose to be ignorant.
