Final book of the trilogy (he seems to be on a trilogy frenzy lately - this is the third one he's done straight, and he has four or five total), which is, in turn, part of a larger series. The author is Terry Brooks, you may have heard of him...

Anyway, I really did like the way things turned out, especially after the train wreck that was the previous book. The ending in particular I found to be funny, in a dark sort of way - it ties in to the first chapter.

Of the trilogy as a whole, I have mixed feelings on. It's certainly better than the previous one, which had such a terrible ending that I found myself questioning why this was my favorite author. The first book was enjoyable enough, but, as I've mentioned, the second one was pretty bad - I saw what was supposed to be the "big plot twist" coming from a mile away. The third one was the best of the lot, by far, though. Overall, I'd give it a 7.5/10...were it not for the second book, it'd probably be an 8.5 or 9.

I do like that he's bridging together his two main series with these books, but I find myself a bit worried. He says that he plans for there to be 8 or 9 books total bridging them together, but I'm anxious to get back to moving forward. His previous trilogy was the latest in the timeline, and it's not particularly appealing to have to wait 8 or 9 years to move things forward (although he has said that he'll take breaks in between...maybe we'll actually get another standalone novel in the series for the first time in over 20 years?).

I love Terry Brooks. Which book is it? I own the Shadowen part of the Shannara series. He's a good writer.

The Gypsy Morph. Last book of The Genesis of Shannara...

The Heritage of Shannara (the Shadowen books) were definitely some of my favorites, though.

I have to catch up with the series. I'm horribly behind.

Make sure you read the Word & Void series, too, if you haven't already, since it's basically the prequel to the Shannara series...

To be honest with you, I found the Word & Void series to be a LOT better than the Shannara series...and that's saying a lot, since I love Shannara so much.

Why's the Word and Void series a prequel?

It's basically the prelude to the Great Wars, which are covered in the Genesis of Shannara trilogy.

I asked my mom if I could get the Word and Void series for my birthday. I might get the first two as a present from my sister. They expect me to BORROW books like these. I'm not borrowing Terry Brooks. He's too good to be borrowed.
