I know everyone's probably sick of these "game ideas" threads, but this has been kinda bothering me for some time.
After finishing all four 3D Zelda games and seeing gameplay videos of the latest handheld games, I have a hard time visualizing where this series could go next. Maybe I need to go back and play some of the pre-N64 games to get a better appreciation of the series and not be a total Zelda newb.
But, yeah, what would you guys like to see in the next Zelda game? What would the game's incarnation of Link be like? Would the game be a direct sequel to a previous game? Or would this game take place in a totally new timeline? What kind of themes, features, characters, and worlds would this game have? What kind of dungeons and temples and items would you want to see?
I'm not sure what I'd want. It'd be nice to see Nintendo stray from the formula a little bit, but I'm not sure how the devs could do that while still making a game feel like . . . well, a Zelda game. The bombs, boomerang, slingshot/arrows, and hookshot/clawshot should all make a reappearance, obviously, but I'd like to see the temples and puzzles be unique. How about a swampy bayou dungeon full of redeads and stalfos? Or a snowy mountain-pass temple full of mining equipment?
Oh, and I'd like Zelda to NOT spend the entire game being a useless character for once. |

Now, I just want an OoT remake. (NOT re-release, and REMAKE with better graphics, maybe a bonus dungeon, etc.) |

Personally, I prefer the air I want to see a Zelda that has that same magical feel that OoT had for the first time. The puzzles weren't, for the most part, overly easy, and the gameplay was more challenging than it has been in recent Zeldas.
Basically, if the next one has at least 3 more dungeons than TP, an increased difficulty level, and more challenging puzzles(but not annoying like the damn one to get the Master Sword) then I'll be happy. |

I want a Zelda game that actually tries something different, instead of recycling the same old formula that has been around since ALttP. Let's face it- the Zelda atmosphere may have worked for a while, but it's going to start getting dull pretty soon.
I want something like that rumor, Valley of the Flood. Steampunk world with a crazed man who thinks he's Link. Of course, it was nothing more than a rumor- but I would like to see Nintendo do something risky like that to Zelda. Zelda is in desperate need of new material. |

One that isn't like any of the past ones in anyway except for being an adventure game with tool based puzzles and combat. |

Interesting thought...how would it work out if you played as Zelda instead of Link? I mean, the combat would drasticly change to be much more magic-oriented. Probably not a good idea in the long run, but you said you wanted different. |

I actually really like the current formula, but I like them being creative with the items. Like the double clawshot and bomb arrows.
As long as they get creative with that, I'm happy. |

We already have a game that lets you play as Zelda. The most amazing, epic title in the entire series: Zelda's Adventure for the Phillips CD-i! ^^
Anyway, like Pure, I too love the formula as it is, and always have. I agree also that they need to be continually creative with the items they introduce. I also want to see an increase in the challenge factor, and for the next game, no Ganondorf or Ganon, if you please! |

I like the games the way they are now. Maybe a remake of the N64 LoZs would be nice. But what they need to do is have 200 hour game =D . |

Personally, I want another one like Majora's Mask. I loved the surplus of sidequests, and the large amount of items (masks *drool*) You can get in the game, as well as the transformations. Perhaps another involving masks, like were link has to defeat Fierce Deity (since FD is supposed to be evil as well... I think). It'd be epic. :D |
