Why not have 2 contests? One would be the themed one, and one would be a normal one, so people can put in things that don't fit the theme?

Because we did that before and it didn't work.

No we didn't. Yoshi suggested different categories, not the theme and the normal.

You know, except like when the contest first started and there was no theme and it didn't work because you can just submit old shit you did.

This format works better because it gives you a deadline and forces you to channel your creativity towards a certain focus.

Not necessarily true.

1. He said the dates were less strict, it still had to be pretty recent. ALso, there were 2.

2. You can still channel your creativity. It's just if you want to make something that doesn't fit the theme, you can still enter it. Also, you could have been working on something but missed the deadline, and then it doesn't fit in the theme

Then...don't submit it to the contest.

Your argument sounds entirely egotistical to me.

And the themes are so broad that it doesn't even matter. >_>

It's not about me. In fact, it's never happened to me. But if you make something really good, but can't submit it due to the theme, then you can't ever submit it.

Making stuff isn't about winning contests. And if you only put your creativity into contests just to win and boost your ego, then maybe you shouldn't make stuff. And anyways, it's not that hard to stick to the theme. The themes aren't very specific anyways, so there's probably millions of ideas you could get based on that one simple theme.

Yeah, I pretty much have to agree with this.

The themes cover a large variety of things you could draw/write. Deal with it. No one else is really complaining.

Just be glad that Francis isn't making very specific themes, so you still have a lot of creative freedom.

One thing I got really mad at was the 'you can't ever submit it' part. The themes are so wide, by the time that theme is over, the new one should have something to do with the new theme. It has to be fairly new, but I'm sure even a two week old piece of work would be accepted.

Also, I agree with Nassy.

Agreed, completely.

No one has had a problem with it yet, anyway. Why fix something that isn't broken?

I never said anything about winning, I said "submit" and I really don't care. It was an idea. A lot of people seem to be flaming it for no reason. I never said it SHOULD happen, I never said "it has to happen or I'll go on a raid and piss a whole bunch of people off" I said it COULD happen. If no one else want's it, then don't do it.

If you really can't think of something for the theme of BLUE, or something just as broad, you probably don't deserve to be in the contest...
