I think that Nintendo is keeping all the hardcore Wii titles VERY confidential. They've said that they're making SMG2, Pikmin 3, and a new Zelda, but nothing else is known, and even THOSE facts are little-known. They want people to lose faith, sell their Wii systems, and forget. Then Nintendo will announce more information about the afore mentioned games, and information about more hardcore games. Then you will want to buy a Wii again to get the hardcore games. It's just a marketing ploy. You should wait it out another year and a half, or so. If you REALLY want to sell your Wii, then do it. But They're just trying to get you to spend more money on them. I think that this is actually a great ploy.

I'm getting a PS3 so I don't have to wait in 7 month increments just for a good game to come out. :|

I read a longass article a month or two back that explained Nintendo's marketing strategy in great detail and ALMOST restored my faith in them.

I thought I'd bookmarked it, but I guess not...I'll try to see if I can find it again.

EDIT: Well, that was quick.

No.

That's *crag* stupid because Gamestop will buy back all the Wiis or they will get sold on eBay. Anyone who sells a Wii will not buy a new one.

Honestly they would be losing money at that point.

That's a common, lazy excuse.

Nintendo's marketing strategy is "make bundles of money off the casual audience while attempting to keep its fanbase by releasing a strong title once every several months," plain and simple.

How is it lazy? They know that hardcore gamers are losing their faith in them and selling their Wiis. They want to get them to buy another by releasing a few completely epic games.

That's exactly why I bought a Wii (and, later, a 360) instead. MGS4 is the only reason why I would EVER buy a PS3, and no game is good enough for me to buy its system for just one game.

Besides, I don't play consoles very much anyway. When I do, it's either Brawl or Wii Fit. Razz

How can people keep their faith in Nintendo through all this bullshit? THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE HARDCORE GAMERS. They want us to think they do so we'll buy the one good game that comes out every half a year, not make us sell and rebuy our Wiis, because that's WAAAAY too risky. I've already sold mine, and I'm not going to go buy it back.

Here's the answer.

Fanboyism.

It just seems to me that it's a bit early to get tired of my Wii. I don't play it much, but I will wait. When I was on vacation in New York, my mom and I went to the big Nintendo store, and there was a line that streched to the door of people waiting to get Wiis. I though to myself how lucky I was to have gotten one for Christmas. Wiis had been out for at least 4 months.

Personally, I refuse to believe in hardcore and casual audiences in general anymore.
As long as the game is entertaining, i'll buy it.

This.

The only thing that makes me call a game 'hard core' is if it has, like, over a million different rules and stuff and gets really complicated.

I should have said something like this in my first post...

Agreed, anyhow.
