All I have to say is this.

YES.

Now I don't have to be turned painfully into spaghetti.

What did you mean by "for good"?

Quote:
Now that the transformer has been replaced and the equipment rechilled, scientists expect to try soon to tighten the clockwise beam and prepare experiments in coming weeks, the statement said.

Yeah. The "Scientific American" article on it said that even if it did cough up a black hole, it would evaporate instantly, before any matter could be nommed.

Some people just don't want to believe that, for whatever reason. :\

"OMG, THE LHC COULD MAKE A BLACK HOLE OR STRANGE MATTER AND KILL US!"

The chances of your ceiling falling and crushing you are higher than that.

Too bad they had to shut it down. It woulda been interesting to see what kind of results we'd've gotten from it. D:

At least it wasn't shut down for good, like the opening post stated.

It probably could help the scientific community's knowledge of the universe quite a bit.

Shouldn't we spend money on more important things, like cancer?

This thing is experimenting with time travel. I think that's more important than cancer.

Millllions of peoples lives are less important than *crag* around with dinosaurs?

Physics has nothing to do with cancer, though. You can't expect a physics professor to suddenly start working on medical junk.

We have different scientists for different reasons, and they're all important. For instance, the knowledge that could come from this experiment possibly could lead to the discovery of new energy sources- and that's probably just as important as advancing medical studies.

Oh, and time travel is impossible, and from my knowledge it had nothing to do with this experiment, but that's for another thread, in another place and time.
