I just downloaded the SSBB soundtrack from VGSB, but now it won't open in iTunes, so I wonder if I did something wrong, or if I just don't know how to open a torrent.

A .torrent file isn't the actual media.

Think of a torrent as the first piece of a treasure map. It has the first step to finding the treasure (SSBB soundtrack). It has the location of a "tracker", who is this wise old sage up in the mountains. The sage has the locations of all the "seeders", who are other treasure seekers who also have some pieces of the treasure. So you call a few seeders and they each send you a piece of the treasure. Once you have a decent amount of the treasure, now YOU are a seeder too. Then while you keep getting more of the treasure, you also send treasure to other treasure-hunters. Eventually, you gather up all pieces of the treasure, it is glued together, and you have your SSBB soundtrack! Then, you should to keep seeding the treasure even after you get all the pieces until you have given away as much as you received.

And that is how the BitTorrent system works.
