Kirby or Spore? I'd like to try them both, but I already know that I like Spore. I'll probably be able to run up to the store and grab one of them soon. Which one?

Kirby Super Star. It really builds upon the original design with some honest challenges and an overall extended gameplay session over the original KSS. And KSS was the best game ever.

Spore tries to be too many things at once, and ends up being mediocre all around. Kirby is pretty much what Mister I said.

Get Kirby.

Why buy a port of an alright game with some extra features if you probably have the first, anyway? Of course, you may not have the original- but in my honest opinion, Kirby gets far more praise than the series deserves.

In all honesty, though, buy neither. Go out and buy Mass Effect instead, if you haven't.

You answered your own question.:U
Other than that, the Kirby series isn't completely overpraised.
Mainly because the fun of it is from the repetition.

No, seriously- why buy a game that you already have just for a few added gimmicks?

By Nintendo fans, it is. The critics seem to have it down, though. The more recent outings in the series have gotten 7/10s, which is decent, but not great- exactly what the series deserves.

Repetition isn't fun, and that's the primary problem with the Kirby series. Each game has near-identical gameplay to the previous in the series. Even the power-ups and locations don't change too often.

Anyway, yeah. Mass Effect is better than all of those combined, so if you haven't bought it yet, buy it for the PC (Because, as a rule, the PC version of a game is generally better than the console version of a game.)

The critics get PAID to give negative reviews, remember?

That's just why it's fun. It doesn't take an in deph analysis of the tutorial and instruction book to pick up and play for even people who haven't played the games before.

Why do they buy it for the added gimmicks, then? How do little mini-games and miscellaneous features justify purchasing the same game over again? Waste of money, if you ask me.

Incorrect, as quite a few games are universally acclaimed. They're paid to give educated opinions, although there are cases of pre-determined bias.

Pick-up and play is alright, but buying what is essentially the same game disguised as a sequel is redundant. A series isn't fun if it's the same thing over and over again, with little to freshen it up.

My PC isn't good enough to handle Mass Effect if it can't handle Half Life 2 and Portal.

Did I mention that my DS is going to break? But anyways, I've also noticed that Kirby is really repetitive, but I've never played Super Star.

*terminates quote pyramid.*
1:Why do we buy the directors cut of a movie we've already seen?
Because we're interested. The new modes aren't jsut minigames. They added entirely new stories that offer new challenges the original didn't have. I wouldn't say they added bosses as much as they did make them harder for the modes they pop up in.
2:Regardless, most of the critics focus primarily on the negative aspects, and try to make them sound worse than they are with comparisons, even without being biased This is either because their payed to do it, it's satire, or they're just being jerks.
3:That's your opinion, however.

And one last question.
Have you played the game yet, Cid?

*rerail*
You never mentioned your DS was breaking. Infact, the fact that you put a DS game up there implied the opposite.
I can't truely reccomend KSSU to you, but if you want to get some use out of the DS in it's final hours, i'd say give it a try, if not something.

All of the options are nice... I'd personally suggest Kirby Super Star Ultra.
