Someone posted this article on another site. I found it interesting, so I'll post it here.

Basically, for most Christians, this isn't anything bad or massively faith-altering. For the fundamentalists who believe the current Bible is the actual unaltered word of God, well, they'll have questions to answer to.

There are older versions of various texts, its just that this is the oldest "complete" book.

But anyways, being old does not make it more accurate. The Bible as we know it today was never written as one book. It was many different writings from many different people over a large span of time. And even after they were written, they were transcribed, collected, interpreted, and modified by many different groups for many different reasons. We will never find the "one true" bible, because it never existed.

The Bible we have now is a result of many people who gathered together to decide which documents were legit or not... about the same time as the Council of Nicea (when Christians got together to get all their facts straight, about three hundred years after Jesus). This bible in the article, the Codex Sinaiticus, came a few hundred years after that. While interesting and definently has historical purposes, it does not change anything from a doctrinal standpont. One old book doesn't trump everything else.

Being an atheist...or at least pretty close...

I don't find anything about this that I care about.
