I'm not even sure if thay are actually out of order in there, but if they aren't that's bad - because as the past has shown, people will abuse every little loophole possible and they already do. They Group forums are the new Dump, and that's inacceptable.

The mods are just too *crag* lazy.
All they would have to do is join every group to monitor the group forums. |

You can view group forums without joining them, you just have to go to 'groups' at the top. Allowing the group owner to set rules could work too. |

Ya, but seriously with all the groups it would take too long to sift through them all. |

Thank you for writing, Concerned. Of course your question touches on one of the basic biological impulses of a digibutteran, with all its associated hopes and fears for the future of the website. I also detect some unspoken questions. Do our benefactors really know what's best for us? What gives them the right to make this kind of decision for Digikind? Will they ever reactivate the suppression field and stop us from spamming again?
Allow me to address the anxieties underlying your concerns, rather than try to answer every possible question you might have left unvoiced. First, let us consider the fact that for the first time ever, as a website, spam has a home, a home all to itself. This simple fact has far-reaching implications. It requires radical rethinking and revision of our forum imperatives. It also requires planning and forethought that run in direct opposition to our neural pre-sets.
The Spammer Can have their own field day in the International Union what small minds call "The Sloopy", be appreciated by his or her own peers and it will be completely out of your sight unless you choose to view that groups subforum. they become harmless to society. harmless to digibutter. Our Benefactors have deemed the bandwiths numerous enough to house this kind of activity. be grateful for their generosity. |

We've brought this up in teh secret Command Center before, but Francis really hasn't given a definite answer. As of now, I believe we don't have the power to moderate the groups (This may have changed, but I'm sure that this remains unchanged), and Francis maintains that people should be able to spam in their groups if they want. Sure, I understand where he's coming from there, but when the group directory is spammed up with group titles n' stuff that really don't matter, it gets very hard to find legitimate groups. |

I, however, fear that by deactivating the suppression mechanics, spam will spread once the renewed liberty of spamming is realized.
Successful spamming is in itself a positive reinforcement for undesirable impulses and activities in as much as 90 % of subjects, and can and will lead to bolder behaviour and a spreading of corruption or copycat behaviour, as spamming is seen - especially in the adolescent demographic - as a desirable pasttime and used as a cheap way of reinforcement of one's ego, heightening the perception of own power and is deemed as pleasurable, if not even right or creative, by many.
Even though this practise is only possible on this platform of existance we choose to enter here, it still leads to unstable behaviour and is often deemed an annoyance.
Also, in these economically... tricky times, we must ask ourselves - do we really wish to expense somebody's money / bandwith / nerves ? It may not be ours, that is true, but where does that way of thinking lead ? We should set a signal for our fellow citiciens and be, in any way applicable, a role model. Not in all functions, of course - I am quite aware of my limitations as a generic carbon-based lifeform of simian ancestry and the resulting physiological and psychological faults - but in those applicable, yes.

Zelnor, nobody really dares to 'spam' OT like they used to. It really went downhill when the IUoS got locked, and several people like Popple got striked just for posting down a funny picture(yet people can still post down just a video) or a pointless line that allegedly leaves 'no room for discussion.'(though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have seen several strange discussions get locked on that basis) If you don't want to put up with the YG spam, just don't join the groups that y'know...spam. It's a simple solution. |

I support some method of venting spam, such as a spamboard or, more reasonably, official "spam groups." The problem is, under the current group layout, people could probably get away with things that are far worse than spam- especially since the mods can't do anything about it. And, some people make groups just for the heck of it, and that makes it very hard to find real, legitimate groups among the waves of stuff like Ultimario's "letters" or various 1-member groups (Just using you as an example; you are in no way the only one causing this problem.)
Group categories, a group search function, and group moderation/verification needs to be implemented. |

Really, I think the solution is to allow group owners to moderate their own groups, set rules, etc.
Group strikes would only come into effect within a single group. After three strikes, the offender is temporatily removed from the group, much like a jailing. Group owners would be allowed to ban members from their groups as well. If an issue comes into play with the owner, members could simply complain about it to a sitewide moderator of Francis. Same with the group owners; if any members are being unnecessarily troublesome throughout all of the groups, the owners may report specific members.
This way, every group is being moderated.
Excess spam groups can be removed. We only need one, in my opinon. Two or three won't hurt, but when we start to hit seven or eight, extras should be deleted.
Yeah. |

We have an effect similar to what Goron Mask proposed ( the no Jail No Mods Proposition) People can let go of their spammy inhibitions the regular site isn't effected the lawless have a lawless zone. eventually the Lawless will lose their steam, spam will become uninteresting.
your argument, Mr. Citizien is reminiscent of the argument of Jack Thompson. Much like arguing that violent videogames breed violent behavior you are arguing that spam in any form is a bad thing, and breeds spammers. however I view it more as a release. They wont spam in other places. And if they do they will be dealt with accordingly.
