A lot of people say Megaman 9 is hard, this is because they have never played a Megaman game for any significant period of time before and as such shouldn't be playing this one, but whatever. LETS DO THIS

Step 1: The Circle of Life

The most important thing one must remember when playing Megaman is the boss order. All bosses have a weakness to another bosses, memorize this chain, and memorize it well.

Galaxyman > Jewelman > Plugman > Tornadoman > Magmaman > Hornetman > Splashwoman > Concreteman > Galaxyman

Step 2: Deciding your first target.

There is no real beginning or end to the line of weaknesses, you can take on any boss you want and still go with the chain. The problem is that you must defeat the first boss with only your Mega buster, and for newbies this can be hard. I recommend Galaxyman for new players, and Concreteman for more advanced ones.

Galaxyman is mother *crag* easy, and his only two attacks are extremely easy to dodge.

On the other hand though, while Concreteman is a bit harder, his special power is one of the biggest advantages to have in the platforming stages, especially when making difficult jumps near or over hazards.

Step 3: USE UR POWERZ DAMMIT

The biggest problem I see with a lot of new Megaman players is that they never use the master robot powers when playing a level, and always save them for the bosses. I will concur that you should always save the power the boss is weak to, but to ignore the others is simply ignorant.

Tornadoman's power for example not only clears the screen of enemies, but also allows you to make extremely high jumps for several seconds. Something that will become essential to you in time attack mode.

Other bosses like Hornetman and Plugman have powers that can reach hard to hit enemies, and Jewelman's power can literally allow you to just run through sections of the game.

Use powerz dammit, it's what they are for.

Step 4: Damage and how it can help you

Some people say damage is a bad thing, I say they are *crag* stupid.

Unlike some games, damage is something you really want to consider taking in Megaman, especially if you are new. When damaged, Megaman will become transparent for a second. During this state he cannot be killed or damaged, he can even walk right through enemies. This is the only real form of invincibility in the game. So learn to use it, and use it well.

Step 5: Fight Club

Fighting in Megman is different to fighting in, let's say, any shooting game that has come out in the past two years. Megaman is almost always weaker than his opponents, and is substantially overpowered by Robot Masters.

So this is what you do.

Dodge then fire.

Do not stand and fire, do not jump up and down and fire. Do not dodge and fire at the same time.

You need to learn to recognize enemy attack patterns. You have to remember, this is an 8bit game. There is no such thing as AI.

Take Jewelman for example. He does not jump because you jumped, you made him jump because you hit the jump button. The computer does not know to jump a certain height or length, it merely moves the sprite a set distance when you hit the jump button.

All enemies in this game have a state of vulnerability. Whether it be when Concreteman lands, or when Galaxyman appears belows his black hole. There is not a single obstacle you cannot overcome in this game with trial and error.

Step 5: You are Supposed to lose

You will die a lot in Megaman 9 before you even beat the first robot master, I did, you will, and almost anyone who has not been playing only Megaman games for the past twenty years will too.

They may not die as much as you, but they will die, and that is the point.

If old games have taught me one thing, it is that you learn the best lessons through experience. If you get killed by a hidden spike trap, it isn't cheap. You just didn't know it was there and you probably won't hit it again because it killed you. If it merely damaged you but didn't flat out kill you, chances are you wouldn't remember it until after a few more play throughs.

I don't know where I'm going with this but the point is you mother *crag* need to suck it up and get better at the game.

THE END

Just a minor note, you put in two step 5s.
Also, Megaman games are all about practice. Once you've learned every trick of every enemy, stage, and robot master, the games get a LOT easier. Of course, that's not enough. There's also the factor of completion and defeating. You know what they say, all toasters toast toastknowing is half the battle.
