LittleBigPlanet was delayed in Europe today, only to find out in just a few more minutes, It was delayed Worldwide. SCEE's statement:
"During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur'an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.
"We will confirm the new launch date shortly."
Originally expected to launch next week, future friends of Sackboy may need to wait until mid-November. GI.biz reports that some retailers are listing November 14th as the new release date.
Well, that sucks. But hey! I don't even have a PS3 yet, so maybe NOW I can get one BEFORE LBP Launches! 
EDIT: The song is "Tapha Niang" from the 2006 album Boulevard de l'Independance by Grammy award-winning Malian kora player Toumani Diabaté.

The Qur'an is the Islamic Bible, actually, and the phrases were from it. They don't want to offend any Muslims, most likely. |

Yet nobody worries about offending Christians, Jews, Hindus, or anything else, for that matter.
Although I do agree the message mentioned by Maiq is weird, and isn't appropriate in a game made by people who no-doubt have younger audiences in mind for the game, if it's being removed because of offending people, it strengthens either one of two statements about today's society: we are either giving in to the fear caused by fundamentalists and letting them limit our freedom of speech, or the whole world is full of overly-politically-correct weenies who hold double-standards. |

EDIT: LittleBigPlanet has been rescheduled for release in the US during the week of October 27th. SCEA made the announcement on PlayStation.Blog in response to a worldwide delay of the game's release. |
