First of all, I think that I am still away from Jack Thompson's style of arguing, because whilst I do believe that spamming breeds more spam - you can quote me on that, if you like, I stand to my arguments as I have seen it happen - I do not think that those who spam are bad. Thompson thinks every video gamer is running amok in his mind every day and that any sort of violence in video game will breed more violence and corrupt thine children.
I don't think that spam will ultimately corrupt everyone, I don't think that all spammers are retards or idiots or some other insulting thing. I just think they have no self-control over their infantile impulses.
I am againt spam because it is nothing more then masturbation in digital form.
Spam, or the breed we face here, forum spam, is defined as:

My first point of why I am against spamming and the tolerance of it is cited right in the article:

If we wouldn't have spam, we wouldn't need as many mods. We'd still need some, but they'd have less workload, and time and resources could be devoted more effectively towards things like Nerr 2.0.
However, I feel my credo above still lacks something. Let me reprise:

The internet is made for the exchange of information in any sort or form.
Spamming is the posting of unwanted messages, often in bulk. Spam is the same as virtual trash - but it is created willfully. Spamming is the creation of unneccesary virtual garbage. It serves no purpose and does nothing creative. Its very existence is unneccesary.
Spamming on a forum is like going to a marketplace and selling vegetable peels and silt.
It may not be our bandwith, capacity or time we're wasting, and we may feel like oh-so-bad boyz from the hood for spamming - it seems to become a sort of supplement graffiti or urinating on the walls - but to most people it is nothing but a nuisance at least and intolerable dicking at max.
Before we had more then about 100 active members, the digi community was rather spam free. People knew each other, didn't want to look bad in front of acquaintances, or simply respected one another. I don't want to go all nostalgic, it had its errors as well, which is why the mods came about. I also do not want to demonize the new members, or the rise in members. But the more members, the more anonymous a single one became. And anonymity - especially online - always gets people to do what they want without thinking.
For you, spamming is a pasttime. For me, it's barging into the middle of a discussion around a metaphorical table to smear the cake, spray on the wall and then run out laughing something like "SURRENDER THE PANTS", mostly in CAPSLOCK OF COOL.
But, you know what ? Teenagers, such as you and me, are simply unable to control the urge to feel cool, enlarge their e-peen, and soam. So go ahead. I stopped caring. I've let myself be the booman for long enough, it doesn't work. I'll go on "bitching", you'll go on "having fun".
Won't that be awesome.
