Not making any meaningful contribution to society?

I do, I haven't been outside in weeks, my skin is turning pale, and my eyes have been glued to the computer screen.

...IT'S TOO DAMN ADDICTING TO LEAVE. D:

I felt like that, but worse, considering I had a huge birthday coming up...

Now I'm too busy being on a sugar rush from lies to care, but that's gonna pass, so. D:

You must learn how to control your self. Used to happen to me but not anymore.

I WAS like that all Summer, but I actually feel just the opposite. It's like I'm actual doing something with my life for once. Feels great.

Aren't most of you guys like, 13 and 14?

Why the *crag* do you think you are supposed to be contributing to society?

Not contributing to "society" right now... Contributing to OUR lives, so that we can contribute to society in the future. At least that's what I'm doing. I'm getting involved with every art-related activity at school so I can go to a decent arts school and get a good-paying job in that field.

I tried, but society hated me and was a meanie dickhead.

So I said, "screw it" and came back here. I've been a much happier person ever since. ^^

Isn't that simply touching?

But quite simply, I really don't care. I'll contribute when I get into a position to contribute (and remember to care to write that damn book I wanted to write months ago >.<), and before then, I'll just relax and learn what I can.

We're developing right now. Suck it up, get your community service hours in, and enjoy the freedom of supposed few responsibilities...though most of us probably have more than one of our parents. Oh well. XD

I don't know if you've ever read "A Hat Full of Sky" by Terry Pratchett (WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE HIM THAT GETS ALZHEIMER'S ? ARGH), but...

Humanity is the only species evolved far enough to have also evolved the amazing ability of boredom. We are a scientific species, and every day we see the vast infinity of the cosmos. We calculated the massive power output of our sun, seen into the future, simulated nuclear winter, learned of the millions upon millions of molecules that fuel our very existence in every second a hundred times over, dessicated the universe... and said "Cool, but, whatever." and went home. Bored. Even I, full of wonder after every revelation in Biology, after each lesson only further shows how impossible life and insultingly convenient the universe is, am bored.

In that book, there is a figure who isn't as lucky. Portrayed as the main villain, he, no it it... The Hiver. A being as old as the universe, a mind without body, it inhabits people and overwhelms them. It gives them not what they need, but what they want - a far worse thing.
But it is a tragic villain - it is scared. Every nanosecond it is aware of every molecule, every reaction, everything... He is amazed by humans, stumbling through live with only five senses, half blind and deaf, and protected by boredom...

Be glad for it. Boredom means that nobody tried to stick pointy objects into you. Boredom means you got all you need. Boredom means you are at ease, content, but not aware of contentness.

The universe is too vast...
