I can easily say I'm paranoid.

Every minute, every second, as soon as it becomes nightfall, I find myself rapidly looking behind me/ looking at dark rooms, expecting something to happen.

The only way I can feel safe is if I have all the lights in the room ON. In fact, that's the only way I can fall asleep, too.

If I'm sleeping in my room, and the lights are off, I always scrunch myself to the top of the bed. I'm relatively tall, so most of the time my feet are near the bottom of the bed. Why do I "scrunch" up toward the top? I have this weird feeling that hands are going to touch my feet from the bottom of the bed, and... Yeah. You get the picture.

Another odd thing, is that I just watched "The Red Room" after not watching it for, oh, a month or so. In this certain part, after the character exists the pop-up for the first time, and it keeps appearing and re-loading, he feels an odd presence behind him, yet doesn't turn around. Behind him, there are two ghostly-like hands, so, yeah. When I watched that, like the first time I watched it, at that exact scene, I looked to the wall to my left, and, as a shadow, I saw a shadow of a hand. No, it wasn't my hand. My right hand was on the mouse, and my left as at the keyboard. Obviously, it scared the hell out of me. Odd thing? I was watching it at eight PM. After nightfall.

Then, there was that "shower" accident... I'm sure that wasn't just a hallucination, because my Aunt and her friend said they looked at the shower right after that, and it looked "bloody." Or whatever, I'm still not completely sure. When that happened, it was...Eight PM, as well, actually.

And, another thing that recently happened. A few weeks ago, the power went out. When that happened, my house was completely dark, obviously. Even the street-lights were out. I swore I kept hearing something say "Don't be afraid," or something of the sort. I sort of kept this to myself, due to my knowledge that I was paranoid, anyway.

Paranoia. Or, at least, that's what I'm thinking it is. Why else would I feel completely unsafe of everything around me, after nightfall? But, one thing is... Should I get help, or should I just stop and see if it goes away? I'm obviously not sure what I should do, anymore... Something tells me to get help, but... Something tells me that they wouldn't be able to help at all.

I get SO paranoid during night. Pretty much the same situation as you. D:

Sometimes I go to sleep with my light on as well, but I usually turn it off when I feel I'm about to fall asleep, for the apparent health benefit.

Anyway, try not to focus on it. Don't think of it at all and it'll be easier to sleep.

Then again, this is coming from someone who won't look at a mirror in the dark at all, and had to cover hers with a sheet for three months in order to sleep.

I only get paranoid when I'm in a situation that I really want to get out of. Like when I was staying in my brother's apartment, I was freaking out because the building was swaying. (It was on the 18th floor) Then when we were going out the elevator stopped working and I was even more paranoid about that. OF COURSE.

Also when I'm home alone, I tend to make ever little sound my house makes 100x more serious then they actually are. Like if my floor randomly creeks then I'm like "zomg someone's coming in to kill me."

I usually get paranoid after watching a creepy as hell cutscene from a game, or if I watch/read too many Tails Doll stories.
I keep glancing at my open closet like something's going to maul me the second I look away.

And on half the other nights, I feel like someone's sitting just outside my sight behind my bedroom door.

I know how you feel. All it takes is just a few seconds of something slightly creepy, and it'll make me paranoid over it for the next few nights.

If you think someone is out to get you, it means you think you're special lol

Thanks to my brother showing me some scary movies when I was like 5/6, I get very creeped out at night, because I always feel like something is behind me, even if it's physically impossible, like when I'm backed up on a sofa right against a wall.

Also when going up the stairs from the basement and it's dark, I always feel like something if following me until I reach the top of the stairs.

There was also that time a bird flew full speed into my window at night and made a loud thump noise. That scared the crap out of me.

Same here, especially when it gets really dark and quiet, like when I don't have the TV on and I hear some small noise and interpret it as something else.

I have a phobia for zombies, so whenever I'd wake up in the middle of the night because I'm really thirsty, I'd be reluctant ti go downstairs and get some water. Eventually I had to will myself to get over it so I wouldn't go insane.

Ah paranoia! I used to be terrified of the dark because I'd scare myself silly with horror movies. Just know that it is all in your mind and nothing else. I know that's easier said than done, but it is the one thing that relieves you. A tip to relive yourself can be to find a really good TV channel that you like and let it play while you doze off. Studies say that certain sounds like television programs can enter your mind and cause dreams about it. This can prevent nightmares, it worked for me! Smile

If only I could be there to keep you safe from the dark
I'm paranoid, but only if it's light outside, since well, I love the night. Mostly because during the day, people are awake, and it's so bright, and I can't see very well. During the night, I just feel... safe.
While not many things scare me, I think a lot about others, and this causes me to get worried that something may happen to them.
But still, it sucks being paranoid. D:

I myself used to be paranoid. I'm not sure how I overcame it, though. The only thing that I know I can tell you is to have the lights on the majority of the time and carry a flashlight with you, or some other source of light. However, as odd as it sounds, your house might need to be excorsized, as all those events sound more supernatural than just plain coincidences. I myself have no personal experiences with events like this, so that is all I can tell you. Maybe DP is stalking you.

I had a less extrme, but similar problem. I am no longer afraid of the dark. I scrunch up when I sleep. I think it's more comfortable. I think I'm just... used to the stuff. If I hear a floorboard creak, I don't care. Probably just a ghost.

Why should I care if my house is haunted? I've lived in it for what, four years now? If a ghost wanted to kill me, would it not have done so by now? I mean, I have a sealed attic that we have trouble getting in, (and I'm pretty sure there's no grudge up there. >.>) and the ghosts hide up there during the day. What should make a ghost different from a human? Oh, look, they're dead. Ghosts are good. They're just not alive, nocturnal, and sleep in your attic.

Kind of like hoboes, you know?

Anyways, I know your problem. It's not ghosts. It's demons.

Because demons are bad.

When you just have that feeling something's there, say a prayer from your religion, or something. If it's a demon, it'll die.

I bet you all think I'm insane right now, too.
