Remember that guy, George Carlin? We was a comedian. And he did this bit, about the seven words you can never say on TV. They are as follows:
Shit, piss, *crag*, *crag*, cocksucker, *crag* and tits.
In my opinion, these words are the only words that need to be censored. We have silly censors for terms that nobody even finds offensive, and yet, as my example shows some words are still completely uncensored.
I propose that we only censor the seven words listed above. The word for non-consentual sex is not harming anyone. |

When looking back at the 7 dirty words, you realize that times have changed, and the late Carlin's act may not be as funny today. Piss and tits really aren't that bad; cocksucker really isn't that bad, either. I say we censor racial slurs, such as the "N" word, as well, as they can be generally far more offensive than "shit" or "*crag*." (After all, how can any logical person believe that a word showing upmost hatred towards a group of people should be allowed, whereas the "f" or "c" words are censored? I still agree with censoring the f and c words, though- I just think racist comments need to be added.) I also believe that the "r" word should be uncensored, as it can be used in a legitimate serious discussion (Unlike the other words, which exist just to be offensive)- but it should be punished if used offensively. We don't need to just censor it all; we can tell when the "r" word is being used seriously or not. |

Shit and piss are silly, too.
Cocksucker: yes Tits: 50/50 I can't see the others, but I assume they're f-c-, n-g-e-, and c-n-. (Yes) |

Consider this: in a mature day-to-day conversation, would those be used? Absolutely not. If someone wants to vent their anger with silly vulgar words, then they'll have to deal with it being censored. They're still typing the curse words, so the venting will be just as effective. |

The thing is, words like "piss" are so commonly used in society that nobody really cares if they're vulgar or not (They're even used in professional or educational sessions, from time-to-time.) I say "piss" or "cock" around my friends, parents, grandparents, and they never really mind. I even use language like "crap," "ass" or "piss," occasionally, around my instructors/professors, who don't seem to mind (They even use such language in their lectures; including the occasional "shit.")
The fact of the matter is, times have changed, and things are different. I do agree with the most extreme words being censored. Unfortunately, no one in here has yet to take notice of my point about racist language being censored, which should be the first words thought of when editing a censor. |

I support this, as well as censoring the 'N' word. |

Words are words people.
If you are hurt by words, then that just makes you pathetic.
HOWEVER. I understand that not everybody in the world can handle "bad words."
Thus, I propose this.
Terms that are derogitory like *crag*, asshole, cock, ect. should be censored.
But words like niger, ass, shit, penis, vagina, damn, hell, ect. should not.
Why? Because they are perfectcly legitimate words that can be used in normal day to day conversations, without being offensive. (For instance, you may refer to a donkey as an ass.)
These words should not be censored, however, if used in inappropriate ways, the user should be striked.
This should bring balance to the censors. |

The last time I checked (At least), we are at a place where only the ones born in a year after 1996 were allowed in here. Next year, that will be 1997. After then, that will be 1998, and on it goes.
We already have this preliminatory. Only a few exceptions are accepted to this rule, and the people under 13 that are accepted here, either are mature enough to deserve, or are good actors enough to make us believe.
That said, I don't think there is a point to most censors. People here are supposed to be somewhat mature. Mature enough to face it if people swear.
Of course, words like n-g-e- still are offensive to a group of people, children or adults. This is the kind of word that gives censoring a point. But words involving sex, excrement or alike, these words are only censored because some people aren't mature enough to hear them. But, we are supposed to be mature, we even have a preliminary to check our maturity. That said, censoring words that can be offensive to young people is pointless.
On a side note, one minor procedure at least can be taken. To avoid future mistakes, there should be warning on what words are censored, and the fact they are not censored at titles. |

You mean with an extra g, or the country (I assume you mean with an extra g)? In the real world, you won't walk up to a black guy you barely know and say, "hey, nigger." Why? Because it's still offensive to many. I don't see why a word such as "nigger" should be allowed, when it has no other purpose but to degrade certain people and make them feel less human. Words like that, or "wetback" or "beaner" or whatever serve NO legitimate purpose in every day conversation, and should be forgotten by society.
Also, how can you consider "cock" derogatory and not "nigger?"
(Now, of course, I was once told that "nigga" is acceptable because it isn't as ignorant as "nigger," but we still shouldn't risk it.) |

I agree, but the optional censoring I've suggested before could also be paired up with this idea. |

A button in the edit profile would be best, in my opinion. Censor revamp, plus a button that'll turn on/off whether you see *crag* or shit. <Totally an example. |

And seeing as Francis has approved it TWICE (once original and once when it was bumped) I think the dual action of them both would be great. |
