On November 11th, I propose that we in some way, shape, or form celebrate the men and women who fought for the futures of their people. The ones who died those who lived.
I'm not saying that everyone MUST take part, or even to acknowledge the event. I understand if there are members of the forum who might take offense at the idea of celebrating people who fought in wars, skirmishes, or even invasions, whether the soldiers believed they were doing the right thing or not. I am not saying we should hail any of the evil soldiers who took advantage of their power and did horrific things to innocent civilians.
I am just saying that perhaps we should respect people who only wanted to protect and ensure the continued prosperity or existence of innocent civilians.
I know that this day might bring some members sad memories, as there's a good possibility that someone here has lost a family member or more in or because of a war. But I know that at least I will at least try to celebrate the courageous people that did what some would avoid so hard or simply were not able to do.
We do not have to open a party-forum for this. We can do it with even the most simple of gestures. Anything we can think of would be enough. |

Well, a "party" might be a tad on the "wrong" side of things for such an occasion. M'aiq had a grandfather who fought in WWII, so he supports the idea of at least doing SOMETHING on the 11th. |

Yeah. My mom's dad was a Vet (WWII, I think) who received a Purple Heart. More members of my mom's family also took part in one of the wars, but I am not sure about the most recent one. I'm sure there were some who died, but Grandpa didn't die in the war. Problem is, my mother's side of the family is so big that I don't know everyone. My dad's... Well, both of my Dad's parents are... And he doesn't talk much about grandma's first husband.
I just want to do something, in any case. |

Someone should create a red, white and blue banner, with images of the brave soldiers, sailors, and pilots who have fought to defend our prosperity. That banner should replace the Halloween one, when the time comes. |

On the subject, M'aiq's grandfather didn't die either, but he lost his leg thanks to a machinegun in France. He died when M'aiq was only two or three. He never knew any of his grandparents becuase all of them passed on while he was too young to remember anything. |

I'm not sure if I really want to bring it to the internet. It's hard to have a moment of silence for the soldiers who died fighting for a good cause on a forum without someone saying "WHOA WTF I COULDN'T POST I'M LEAVING", and a party is out of the question.
It's a nice idea, though. Maybe we could turn Tippi into something as well as putting a flag banner at the top. |

Unfortunately, not everyone who is going to be acknowledging this day is from America. | Cid wrote: | | with images of the brave soldiers, sailors, and pilots who have fought to defend our prosperity. Gosh, what's with all the US stuff you force down our throats? D: Well not the party idea, because it's pretty much our Remembrance Day, but the flag idea. WE ARE NOT ALL US, NOT EVERYONE IN THE WAR WAS US, WHY WOULD WE PUT IT UP AS A US FLAG. FFFFFF sdfasdfadsf AND IF THERE IS GOING TO BE ANY BANNER IT WILL HAVE POPPIES. >:C
Also my great grandpa was in WWII. He got his leg shot. |

Setting it up like it's a US event only, basically tells anyone who ISN'T from the USA to just go away for the day. :\ It's also incredibly awkward for those of us who aren't from the States... |

Ignore him, he's racist against Canadians.
Anyways, we really shouldn't have a specific flag for Veteran's day. Just open up a party forum for Veteran's Day stuff. Or, maybe we can have a rotating picture of all the countries or something like that? |
