He was frozen in place at seeing the infant rise up towards Kraehe, unable to move unlike the bold counterpart who charged forward.

Violet immediately pointed her staff at the Raven carrying the infant, causing a block of solid ice to begin to form around the demon's legs in an attempt to hold it in place.

What kind of heartless monster are you? Even a Charr would have some sympathy in this situation!

The raven-people yanked Elise away from Maria, and she, too, disappeared into the crowd.

"I am having sympathy," Kraehe said, rocking Lila in her pale arms. The baby's eyes glazed over before she fell into a deep sleep. "I'm giving this baby to a Father who will love her heart for all eternity."

...The monsters began to move away, disappearing into the village once more. Sonora, Maria, Violet, and Ocelot were all released. But Ami had been carried off, Elise was gone, and all of the other villagers had been devoured. Only Stephen remained, his grieving eyes buried in his hands as he wept for his missing wife.

"Now, if you'll excuse us...We have a lot to prepare for this Halloween."

And with that, Kraehe vanished with the baby.

Ocelot groaned, doing a quick headcount of the remaining people before drawing one of his guns. He reloaded the revolver, holding it in one downwards hand.
