And it's *crag* amazing. It's short, but easy to get into and very, VERY fun. If you haven't heard about Mirror's Edge, pull your head out of your stupid ass and listen.
It's a first-person platformer with a little bit of FPS action thrown in there. You can jump off objects, slide under things run along walls, run up walls, jump off walls onto ledges and the like, usually while dodging gunfire. The story seems pretty good from the demo and trailers; you're a Runner, an agent who delivers packages and information for criminals bent on overthrowing an oppressive government. Usually they don't go out of their way to catch Runners, they start shooting at you during the demo chapter, and there's some kind of conspiracy behind it or something.
I have to say, I absolutely love the art style. Some of the cutscenes look like they were made in Flash, and the 3D animation is very simple but beautiful. It's mostly monotone with important objects shown in bright red, and I did notice things getting more blue as it got more intense. The whole world has a slight clay-like look to it. The music is great, too.
All in all, it's simple and fun, but it's got a deep and artistic style. I can see myself playing this for hours on end. There's a Race mode too, but you need to pre-order the game to access it in the demo.
Well, at Gamestop, whomever pre-orders the game gets a yellow runner's bag. I got mine as part of some severence package from the boss man, before I got laid off from work until February! Now I have to pay full price for my games! I feel like Slappy Squirrel, here! One more crack about my lay-off status, and I'll stuff dynamite down yer pants, or in the case of those who don't wear pants, stuff YOU in pants filled with dynamite!
It seems like an awesome game, and I played them demo, and I'm going to GameStop tomorrow to pick up a copy of LBP, so, I might also get to preorder this, but, the only problem was THE FILESIZE WAS SO *crag* BIG, HOLY SHIT. OVER 800 MB'S? DAMN.
Does this game have a story or is it just an ordinary runner that's somehow hyper on the day?
