Demod topics will have to be moderated closely to avoid flame/spam, but they are fine other than that. People have a right to discuss demodding someone if they actually have a point to what they are saying. If they make a topic saying "Tessie striked me for spam when I spammed and made me lose 10 coins demod him nowwww >:(" or something like that, the topic will be locked and the poster will be striked. However, if they for example bring up that he striked multiple undeserving posts that were found nearly unanimously to be not guilty, and Francis ruled they weren't, then there is more room for discussion and the topic will be heavily moderated for flames and WILL NOT BE LOCKED, but flaming/spamming posts will be striked and deleted. And spam will be strictly moderated, anybody who says something like my above fake quote will have their post striked and deleted.
Or an alternate idea to the above paragraph, if somebody thinks a mod should be demodded, they PM Francis and are not allowed to create topics like this of their own. If Francis gets enough PMs with reasonable points, then he will create an official "Demod _____?" topic. Like in the above paragraph, they will be moderated closely for flame/spam, and flame/spam will be striked and deleted, AND THE TOPIC WILL NOT BE LOCKED.
After a long time of discussion, Francis will address the issue himself and elaborate on why said mod should stay a mod, or in some cases why they should indeed be demodded. People can continue to debate after his post, pointing out things he missed or flaws in what he said, and maybe even change them to his ideas. He will respond to these points of theirs and keep it clear why he is in his decision, and the topic may eventually be locked but only after everyone has had their say. Francis may unlock the topic in the future if the debate arises again with new ideas and points, new misdeeds the mod has done.
This sort of thing could also be done with "Mod _____" topics and "Remod _____" topics, with similar strict rules to keep the debate civil and intelligent.
I believe Digibutter to be more Democratic than many other sites, the community elects or is much of the government. We have elections for President of Digibutter. Many issues are discussed by the community. Nearly every feature of the site was suggested by or pre-approved by the community. Such a democratic site should have a say in who our moderation team are, of course not all the say (that would encourage corruption, spoils systems, popularity over qualification, etc) but much of it. Of course, Francis gets the final say, he's not going to make Goron Mask unbanned and a mod just because 70 people voted him for the lulz, or me a mod because I paid them 200 coins each to vote me. Francis gets to have the final approval, but we bring things to his attention and discuss and debate with him, influencing him in many ways. We should be allowed to voice our opinion on who should be demodded and such. We should be able to talk with him about what a mod has done horribly wrong. How a mod who was demodded because of one major mistake has shown us how they can improve and make a great moderator like before, and never make such a large mistake again. We should be able to discuss a possible candidate for moderator, discussing all their flaws and talents and good/bad deeds. We may point out a real star of a moderator who turns out to be one of the best, someone Francis might have neglected or not seen because they post often in RPOT (which hardly interests Francis and he rarely goes there). We should have a voice in who are our moderators, but we will keep it civil and intelligent, no "Geno should be a mod, he makes epic stuff and does good RPing".
tl;dr: We should be able to debate on demodding or adding mods, as long as we keep it intelligent, civil, and strictly moderated for flame/spam.
