this is a strange thing I've noticed about the internet

people get really really defensive of the internet browser they choose to use insisting that it is the best and getting really really angry if anyone says anything bad about it or mentions any other browser

maybe I just don't "get" it but I don't see why everyone makes such a big deal about what browsers people use, as long as it gets me to the sites I want to go on in a timely matter than I don't really care and I could care less about what browsers others are using. They all seem the same to me

I just don't see the point in crusading for your browser and how madly people defend thier favorite browser. I find this a little strange and very funny, sometimes I act the same way these people do only with IE insisting that IE is the best browser to have and that all others are inferior

anway in this topic give your thoughts as to why people get so wound up over browsers

(btw I really do use IE because like I said it makes no difference to me so why should I go through the trouble of changing browsers?)

For the same reason people have a favourite sports team, or flavour of ice cream, or console, and insist that all others are worthless and inferior.
Whatever that is.

It's called fanboyism.

"My choice is superior to yours, simply because I prefer it."

They cling to whatever they CAN defend for whatever reason. It's much like school rivalries, town rivalries, and patriotism toward one's country.

It's also being... territorial, if you will.

that's why I find it fun to pretend to be them and act the same way they do with IE, the browser that they all agree is the very worst

It doesn't really matter. I have IE, Firefox, and Chrome, but I uses IE for most of the stuff I do. In my opinion, it's easier to use, I've noticed it can display certain graphical quirks that Firefox doesn't, and for some reason, runs faster than Firefox on my PC. Chrome is a little too weird, so I don't bother with it much.

Yeah, though; some people get worked up over crap like this. It's just a matter of taste; there really isn't a "correct" browser choice.

Yoshio... I am terribly sorry for this, but I can't suppress the urge. Please disregard the paragraph below. Again, apologies.

<Grammar Nazi>By all that is right and truthful, let freaking CAPITAL LETTERS enter your life ! Some of that is just... borderline painful ! You're an intelligent guy, but this is the internet, where you're reduced to what you type - and if you type like that I get biased and a headache.</Grammar Nazi>

Again, I apologize for the arrogance and Off-Topic-ness.

I use Firefox and distrust Google Chrome. </Paranoia>

I use IE because Netscape is *crag* and Roblox won't work in Firefox or Netscape. Roblox works only in IE. In fact, many online games only function in IE. Looks like online game devs are browser-biased, too Very Happy

Because people want to believe that they are the best and anyone with any other opinion is wrong.

That's why we have console wars, and that's why are society is the way it is today.

Because it is fueled by ignorant competition.

Flavio is proud of the fact that Flavio's browser of choice, Mozilla Firefox, is superior in every way to Internet Capplorer and Safagotry and all those other shitty browsers. Anyone using an inferior browser is obviously a complete idiot, and must transfer over to the superior side, or be severely punished.

Flavio's logic is not flawed in any way or form, and your opinions are of no important if they go against this logic. Mozilla Firefox is superior.

End of topic.

It's strange, I agree. I can see why they make things like

browser > browser > browser > browser

but why they get all "NO ITS BETTER BLAHBLAHBLAH"
