So I've decided to get them out.

1. Are Yoshis males, females, both, both but at the same time, or is Yoshi genderless, or something?

Ok so it was one thing on my mind.

...Good question. It lays eggs, so according to all known rules of biology, it must be female. Then again, Word of God states that it's male.

All yoshis lay eggs, and they can hatch on their own.

Therefore, a yoshi is not male or female.

However, calling yoshi an "it" would be downright rude, and calling yoshi a "she" would get across the wrong message.

Therefore, yoshis are a cross between the two.

Oh, and the birdo dating thing? Has yoshi ever dated birdo canonically? Sure, he's done it in fanfics, and he was birdo's partner in Double Dash, but Mario, and Luigi were partners too.

I believe Yoshis are special asexual beings, and can also be referred to male and female by the way they act.

The Mario comic in Nintendo Power shows us that Yoshi's indeed do have genders, but it is also assumed that they are asexual.

Though to my knowledge I don't think has ever been proven.

While Yoshis do hatch from eggs, the eggs that Yoshi is seen producing in the game are almost always just empty shells.

It could be a case, like in chicken farming, were Yoshis are simply able to produce eggs that have not been fertilized as a defensive measure.

There are male and female yoshis, as portrayed by Paper Mario. Both genders can lay eggs, but the males are strictly males and females are females. The difference is that female yoshis can lay fertile eggs that hatch into new yoshis. How else would the yoshi population continue to grow and exist?

Male yoshi eggs are not fertile and it is unknown where they come from. I'd rather not know myself. These eggs are hard and usually hollow so they can be used as a weapon.

Therefore, yoshis are male, yoshis are female, yoshis are not truely hermaphrodites.
