In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
--Lt.-Col. John McCrae

So, today is Remembrance Day. The one holiday that is not to be celebrated, but acknowledged.

This holiday is not to celebrate a victory, or to grieve for those from whichever country that is yours who died. It is to remember the wars. It is to remember those who died from all countries, to acknowledge who lived, and is for the families that were put through the stress of having a child thrown into a war.

Children our age; 16, 16, 17, 18... they joined the army for their own reasons. Many died. Families were torn apart.

So, I figured that at least a topic should be made for this day. Whichever country you are from, please give your thoughts on this holiday.

My thoughts are my cousin and my grandfather. My cousin is in Iraq right now which is sum what depressing, and my grandfather just passed away a little while ago and he was in a war.
