I has an idea.
1: when you join, you are a "Newb" And get limited abilities. Such as you cannot mark or report posts, open a shop, ect. After 200 posts, you become a "Member" You get normal abilities. After 6000 posts, you get The rank "Nerr" Then you get a little extra stuff. Then after say, 12000 you get the rank "Elite" That gives you more trust and abilities.
2: This one, you get lots of ranks. They are Mario characters and enemies. Starting off with say, Micro goomba. After 25 posts, you get up another, untill your at chain chomp chomp, or Angry sun! Also the higher you get, the more abilities and privileges you earn. Once you hit paragoomba, you may edit posts!
If this idea takes off, I'll post a in order list of ranks. |

We have enough complaints about elitism as is. The last thing we need is more of it. Not supported. |

Postcount is the LAST thing that should be considered when setting members into groups.
(BTW, no personal attacks intended.) |

I do not approve this at all.
I always hated the notion of membergroups in other forums and having been looked down upon with titles such as 'new meat', 'worm', and 'baby' while there were complete and total jerks whose titles were things such as 'hero', 'master', and 'epic trogdorian knight'.
No.
No ranking system here. Everyone is a nerr. Their titles are customized to their preference and their sub-titles reflect the forum's items effects. |

First off, people who frequent Off-Topic and/or RPOT have insane post counts while everyone else has far lower counts despite being active.
Second, 200 posts until you can report, open a shop, etc? ABSOLUTE AND UTTER FAILURE. Nsider had it bad enough waiting 3 days to be able to post in most forums, but it can take months to get 200 depending on what forums the poster goes to and how much they like the site. Meaning that people who don't like the site and thus don't post often will have even less reason to stay.
Third, making over a thousand posts to be able to edit posts is lame. What if you want to update your shop topic? Add something to a post without double posting? Fix a grammar error? Update a Star Carnival topic or a shop topic? You can't. Which is stupid. You shouldn't have to "earn" basic forum features by posting a ton in Off-Topic. You should join and immediately be able to edit, delete, have a decent sig size, etc.
This sort of rank system needs serious work to avoid failing horribly and discouraging not very active or new members from staying. |

What if we based it on cookies, or maybe some cookie like system that only certain people could give out.
Then it wouldn't be elitism as much as it is an honor. |
