Anyone else remember 5th Gen? 3D graphics were a new, exciting thing, everyone was raving about OoT and FF7, and most importantly, console fanboyism didn't exist. Sure, people usually preferred one system over the other, but most of them knew that the other console was just as good, in it's own ways. Remember how you'd invite friends over to play Pokemon Stadium, and then go to their house the next day to play Crash Team Racing?
Then 6th Gen happened, and something changed. Words like "Nintendrone" and "Xbot" started being used. Suddenly, if you liked one system, it automatically meant you hated all others. Microsoft fan? You're a fratboy who plays nothing except first-person-shooters. Sony fan? You only like Kingdom Hearts and turn-based RPGs, and probably write slash fiction about Sora and Riku. Nintendo fan? Grow the *crag* up and play some Halo.
Where did we go wrong? |

That's a really good question. I really don't know why it started happening. |

It started going downhill when games began appealing to the larger audiences. I'm not saying this about Nintendo, I'm saying it about all three companies. |

excuse me, but WTF are you smoking?
Console fanboyism has been rampant since the days of the SNES and Genesis. |

Yeah, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the "SHUT UP FAGGOT, [A] IS BETTER THAN [B]" that is seen everywhere now when someone mentions Halo, Mario, Metal Gear, or any other popular series. |
