My expectations for this weren't exactly high. A direct-to-DisneyDVD movie starring Tinkerbell, and she talks? Doesn't sound good at all. I've read a few positive reviews of it, though, so I decided to give it a chance.
The story was, as I expected, nothing special. Tinkerbell is a tinker faerie (there are several other kinds, including water, light, garden, and animal), and doesn't like her job. So she tries to do the things the other faeries do instead (making plants grow, teaching baby birds to fly, etc) and fails miserably. In the end, she ends up saving the day with her talent for building and fixing things, and decides being a tinker faerie isn't so bad.
The best part of this movie is the visuals. The CGI quality is good, and the environment designs make me wish I was half an inch tall so I could live in a house like Tink's. Another thing that caught my eye was the lighting; I'm not quite sure why it stood out so much for me, but the usage of shadows and highlights is really really nice.

Overall: I wouldn't call this movie great, but it appeals to my inner little girl who wants to live in an enchanted faerie world. And it's pretty.
Disney apparently has three sequels planned already. Jeez.

I agree. For a family movie, it was cute, even though I wasn't expecting anything. But holy cow, the animation blew me away. We also just got a new, HD tv so that may be it But it seemed almost too perfect at some points D:
