Ew, don't use the default photoshop brushes for grass. It makes you look really lazy.
Also, the volcano is a good starting picture. Did you use smudge? |

I want to get the most out of Photoshop, so I want to know how to do this. |
Draw your own grass? Or plan it out so you don't have to resort to default brushes. Also, another reason it looks bad, and your's is sort of a good example, is that when you put grass on it sort of looks like the grass is growing right at that spot, so your picture looks like he's coming out of the grass. |

Oh, yeah, I see it. That does like a little sucky... I tried drawing a border around it, but it turned out wobbly and uneven. |
