My family always has a big snack dinner on X-mas eve, we open 1 present to from other, then watch A Christmas Story.
On the morning of, We take alternating turns opening presents from "Santa"
We also always go for the stockings first.

Well, before, we would open a ton of presents and put out a ton of lights and stuff and go to my relative's house and get more presents there...

But since my dad lost his job, we get to have a shit Christmas now and only get one or two presents and almost no lights go over to my relative's house and not really have a good time.

(btw my relatives include my grandma and grandpa, my aunts and uncles, and my cousins. all of which are assholes and don't give a shit about us. (: )

My mother's parents and brother always come down here for Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we attend a church service, then we open a present early. On Christmas morn, we wait for everyone to get to my home, then we open stocking presents, have breakfast, and finally open regular presents.

Very old-fashioned Christmas, as my dad's.

We start saving money way before Christmas because sometimes we're a little short.

We put up our tree, but rarely have lights anymore.

Stockings are hung the night before. Unless my brother keeps hanging them up early. >>

We do our baking early in December then freeze it. Usually Nanaimo bars, butter tarts, Oh Henry bars, shortcake, banana bread, peanut butter cookies, and some other stuff I can't remember.

We open everything on Christmas morning, at 7 AM. Aside from the stockings. Those are done when my brother and I wake.


At Mom's, we use boxes instead of stockings, don't really decorate, buy our baking aside from Nanaimo bars... yeah. Only real decoration is the tree. I have a feeling we'll be doing the Quebecois tradition there, to appease Frenchie.

Then we drive all the way to Ladysmith. Ugh.

We set up our stuff around now for the outside. About the 15th-20th, we get our tree, and either that night or the next day, decorate it, as well as do the interior decorating.

On Christmas Eve, we have family over, and eat a giant seafood dinner made of epic. We open up extended family presents, and my brother and I get one of our presents each.

On Christmas Day, my family opens the presents under the tree, and then has some extended family over again for a feast...

And then I play with the stuff I get.

And decorate them.

Every Christmas Eve, I have nachos for dinner. Don't ask how it started, because I don't even know. :U

Usually our general monthly stuff is crazy, and nonsensible, but we decorate, and make cookies.

Late in the month, ornaments go on the tree. This I know.

We go to Church an hour early on Christmas Eve, and I usually try gouging my eyes out with sharp objects out of annoyance.

When we get home, everyone has different patterns of sleep. I try to go to sleep as early as possible, and FAIL COMPLETELY at doing so thanks to Insomnia.

My oldest Sister tries going to sleep early, and SUCCEEDS COMPLETELY at doing so.
My other older sister doesn't go to sleep at all, and wakes everyone up at 5:00 in the morning to open presents. I love her for this, but my parents don't, since there's a rule that we must wait until 6:00. We always break it.

Then, we do Stockings, and everyone 'noms on candies as we take turns opening presents. Everyone enjoys themselves until lunch when we have amazing ham. I mean, turkey is okay, but THAT FREAKING HAM. IT IS TENDER, AND IS COVERED IN CINAMMON ON THE OUTSIDE.

Then we get money from relatives, and if the Grandma on my Mom's side didn't come over Christmas day, she comes over some time later, possibly in January, and she gives us another ornament for next year.

For some reason my family chooses to let us open our presents late at night on Christmas Eve, instead of the morning on Christmas Day. :U
